PRAIRIE DAY NEEDS YOUR HELP!
Prairie Day is our school’s field day, and it’s known by students and families as the BEST DAY OF THE YEAR! It’s a wonderful way to celebrate the end of the school year with our amazing Prairie community.
Thanks to everyone who has volunteered so far - we still have a few areas where we need more help!

PLEASE NOTE: Older or younger siblings who don’t attend Prairie are not permitted to join you during your Prairie Day volunteer shift.
If you want to get involved but aren’t available for the listed options, please email our Prairie Day Co-Chairs Brittany Piszynski, Julie Belloli and Blaine Kosek.
Thank you in advance for helping make Prairie Day a blast for our students!
Exciting News from Home & School!
We’re thrilled to share that Home and School has purchased a wide variety of teacher wish list items totaling nearly $10,000! These new materials and resources will support learning and engagement across all grade levels.
Thanks to this incredible support of our Prairie community, every Prairie student will benefit from these additions — from creative supplies and hands-on learning tools to classroom essentials and more.
A big thank-you to all of the families who contribute to making Prairie such a wonderful place to learn and grow!
Medication Pick-Up
Unless your child is going to summer school, all medication must be picked up from the health office by the end of the day on May 27.
Summer school is at Prairie this year, so if your child is participating, you do not have to pick up the medication until summer school is over. The district medication policy does not allow medication to be sent home with a student or to be stored in the health office over the summer. As a reminder, a new medication order form must be signed by a physician every school year. Allergy action plans, asthma action plans and seizure action plans also must be filled out and signed by a physician yearly. All forms may be found at the district’s web page link.
We wish you all a wonderful summer!
Jill Accardo, RN, School Nurse
Amanda Wood, Health Technician
A Thank You to the Prairie Community!
Thank you to all of the Kindergarten classes for organizing and working hard to collect food donations. You did a great job! Prairie School did an amazing job of collecting 880 POUNDS of food!!! In addition, thank you to everyone who donated to our food drive and to the families who helped us drop off the food at the West Suburban Food Pantry. We are so proud of all of our Prairie Dogs!
Last Call for Lost and Found Items!
Here’s one last look at the Prairie Lost and Found. It is full of new items!! Grab your missing items prior to the end of the school year. All remaining items will be donated after May 26th.
Congratulations, Ms. Noesen!
Congratulations to Prairie 3rd grade teacher, Ms. Noesen!
Ms. Noesen has been awarded the Jeanine Nicarico Masters in Reading Scholarship for 2025-2027! This scholarship supports educators like Ms. Noesen who are passionate about promoting literacy and nurturing life-long readers. Let's celebrate her commitment to enriching our students' futures!
Retirement Recognition
It's time to celebrate our amazing retirees, Ms. Atwater, Mrs. Trezona and Mrs. Witmer! Before they head off on their next adventure, we want to give YOU a chance to say thank you, share a favorite memory, or wish them well.
Take a moment to fill out this quick form for each retiree you would like to recognize and help us honor those who’ve made a lasting impact on our students, schools, and our entire Naperville 203 community.
Walk with Charlie!
Volunteers Needed: 2025/2026 Fun Run Committee
The Fun Run Committee is looking for 2-3 more volunteers to join the committee for the next school year. The Fun Run is our most profitable fundraising event for Prairie Home & School. This year, we’re excited to run the event ourselves, which means more of the funds raised will go directly to benefit Home & School. But we can’t do it without the help of our amazing volunteers!
If you enjoy planning fun events this committee is for you!
Time Commitment: Light commitment during summer months for planning. Expect to be busy the two weeks leading up to the run (September 26).
Details: This committee supports the full scope of the program and day of the run. Some responsibilities include creating/distributing curriculum and marketing materials, counting/distributing prizes, tracking progress, and more.
Questions? Ready to volunteer?
Contact Crystal Coon, Fun Run Chair, at prairiefunrun@gmail.com.
Thank You, Mrs. Heilicser and Mrs. Daltrey!
Sunday, May 18th is National Speech-Language Pathologist Day! Home and School is recognizing Prairie Speech-Language Pathologists Mrs. Heilicser and Mrs. Daltrey with a gift. We are so thankful for Mrs. Heilicser and Mrs. Daltrey for supporting our students and staff, and providing wonderful speech therapy services. If you would like to contact our school SLPs to let them know how much you appreciate them, their emails are cheilicser@naperville203.org and kdaltrey@naperville203.org
Calling all Prairie Alumni: Prairie Clap Out on May 27th!
Do you have any family, friends, or neighbors graduating from high school this year? We would be thrilled to welcome them back to where it all started and take part in our special Clap Out tradition, leading our 5th graders in celebration. Please forward the below information to Prairie alumni graduating high school this year.
Seniors, please wear your cap and gown and join us at Prairie on Tuesday, May 27. We ask that you arrive by 2:10 PM at the front of the school to take a group picture and be part of this memorable moment. Let us know if you can make it here. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
Adopt the Prairie Garden!
What is Adopt-the-Garden?
This is how we make sure the Prairie Garden doesn’t shrivel up during the summer break! Families from the Prairie community can sign up to take care of the Garden for one week and in return take home the fresh vegetables and herbs they harvested. Everything growing in the Garden was planted by Garden Club students.
How does it work?
Participants choose a week in June, July or August where they commit to visiting the garden at least three times to water, weed and harvest the garden beds. We have a super cool irrigation system that makes watering easy!!! We need three families per week. No experience necessary! All instructions, tools and equipment are provided.
Why participate?
The Prairie Garden provides garden-based learning opportunities to Prairie students during the Spring and Fall. When you adopt the Garden for a week you’re making sure the vegetables and herbs planted by the Garden Club thrive during the growing season. And you get to take home the fresh produce you harvested!
How will I know what to do?
Easy-to-follow instructions will be posted in the garden shed and made available electronically. Families who have signed up will be required to attend one Garden orientation to learn how to use the watering equipment and to become familiar with basic garden maintenance. Orientation takes place in the Garden on Saturday May 17 at 2 pm OR Saturday May 24 at 2pm.
How do I sign up?

Committee Spotlight: Prairie Day
Welcome to the Committee Spotlight, a way to learn more about the different Home & School committees at Prairie and the amazing volunteers who chair them. We have come to our final committee: Prairie Day. Prairie Day is chaired by Julie Belloli, Blaine Kosek, and Brittany Piszynski, and is Prairie’s field day where all Prairie students are outside playing games and enjoying the day with their classmates and teachers.
Prairie Day is being held this week, and Blaine, Brittany, and Julie have been working on this the last few months - doing everything from securing the bounce house rentals, taking inventory of the supplies, figuring out the volunteer and food needs, and recruiting the volunteers and donations. If you haven’t signed up to volunteer or bring something, please do so now!
