What's Up Next?
Happy Sunday HES Family & Friends!
I hope this message finds you well as we continue to navigate the challenges brought on by the recent storm. My thoughts and prayers are with those directly impacted and still recovering.
Last week, as we welcomed our students back, we created an opportunity for them to share their experiences from the storm, while also engaging in a fun and interactive learning environment. The week included review games, personal reflections, and introductions to their club sponsors for this year. It was a positive and refreshing start!
Thank you for entrusting your children to our care. We look forward to another great week at HES as we prepare for our upcoming Fall Break (October 10-14). Please see our reminders listed below, along with flyers for upcoming family opportunities. As always, thank you for being supportive of our efforts to help your child achieve high success.
Also, stay tuned for more pictures to be released this week from our first Student Club Day and our participation with Spirit Week that took place last week.
Friendly Reminders:
- School starts at 8:00 a.m. Your child will be marked tardy if they arrive at 8:00 a.m. and any time afterwards.
- Please arrive before 8:00 a.m. to ensure that your child has time to eat breakfast before classes begin. The Car Rider door is closed at 8:00 a.m. daily. Students must be dropped off and signed in by a parent or guardian in the front after this time.
- Any individual entering the doors of Hillcrest Elementary, must be dressed appropriately. Please refrain from wearing pajamas and revealing clothing attire.
- Breakfast is served to all students daily from 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. with a student choice of hot or cold.
- Our School Dismissal process begins at 2:55 p.m. each day.
- Students that are not picked up at the car rider area by 3:15 p.m. will be taken to the front office to be released. Please make arrangements to have your child picked up no later than 3:30 p.m.
- Make right turns ONLY when exiting the car rider drop-off/pick-up line.
- Please allow our staff to enter the parking lot in the mornings by keeping the car rider lane open at the entrance near the playground.
- Car Rider Parents: To help ensure the safety of loading and unloading our precious cargo (students), please place your car in the Park position while students are entering/exiting the vehicle.
Thank you again for your support and allowing us an opportunity to serve your child! Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our school at (478) 353-8200. I look forward to another awesome week ahead with each of you!
A Review Back of Last Week
Georgia Reads Day!
Our HES student leaders participated in a make-up day for Georgia READS Day, which was originally scheduled for September 30th. Our students and staff dropped everything for an hour and promoted literacy throughout the building last Wednesday as students returned from the storm.

Our student leaders enjoy listening to a good book also from time to time. Thank you to our teachers that took time out during our one hour of promoting literacy to read to your classes!
Students Reflect on Hurricane Helene
Our kindergarten student leaders took time to share their feelings after returning to school from the storm. Students wrote and drew pictures, then shared with their peers.
