From Mrs. Esposito
Tonight marks the first of two Back to School Night events. Parents of students in grades kindergarten through 3rd grade are invited to join us beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the multi-purpose room (aka gym and cafeteria). Beginning at 6:00 p.m. I will share a few remarks along with the PTO. At 6:30 teachers will hold their first session that will last about 30 minutes. At 7:05 teachers will host a second session for those families who have multiple children in grades K-3. I hope to see many of you later tonight. Our second Back to School Night for students in 4th - 6th grade will be next Thursday, September 5th, also at 6:00 p.m.
We need your help! If you are picking up your child in car line it is imperative that you note this on Pick Up Patrol (PUP) before 2:00 p.m. so that we have your child in the cafeteria and ready to go when their name is called. If you need assistance with PUP, please reach out to Chris Ficca in the office. Also, can we ask that you keep the sign displaying your last name up in your window until after your child is in the car? This too will help us get every child to the correct car and keep the line moving along.
Have you ever wondered who the additional teachers are who are working with your child in their classroom? Our reading and math specialists are pushing into classrooms providing support to classroom teachers and meeting with small groups of students. They will continue these practices until we complete our fall data blitz (scheduled for mid September) where we will be able to identify students who officially qualify for title 1 supports and small group instruction. Additional information will be shared with your child's teacher prior to and following the blitz.
A big shout out to the PTO and all of the volunteers who have assisted with opening. From chalking the walk, to providing a welcome breakfast for staff, to helping with bus arrival this first week, thank you for all you do for the NC community.
Teacher Focus: Meet Mrs. Lemuell
The name Mrs. Lemuell might be familiar to some students and families and Mrs. Lemuell was most recently a math specialist. Following an academic sabbatical last year, Mrs. Lemuell returned to NC this fall in a new role, MTSS Coordinator. What does this mean? Mrs. Lemuell will help to facilitate conversations between teachers, support teachers and families so that all students are supported academically, behaviorally as well as socially and emotionally. Relying heavily on data, Mrs. Lemuell's job is to help coordinate necessary supports for students so that they can be successful in the classroom and beyond.

Pick Up Patrol
Please take a moment to log onto Pick Up Patrol and update your information for your child. At the start of the year, all information from last year is cleared from the system so parents must update their information at the start of each school year. Thank you for your help in ensuring we know your child's plans for dismissal.
If your student's information is not updated on Pick Up Patrol, your student will be placed on their assigned bus at dismissal.

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHTS
Meet the Teachers
K - 3rd: Thursday August 29th
4th - 6th: Thursday, September 5th
Each evening will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a brief welcome presentation from Mrs. Esposito and the PTO in the all-purpose room. Our first session with the teachers will start at 6:30 and our second session will start at 7:05. *These events are for parents/guardians only.*
Parent Drop Off and Pick Up Reminders:
Morning Arrival: Cars may NOT arrive to drop off before 8:15 am.
Afternoon Dismissal: Cars may NOT start arriving before 3:15 pm.
This system is meant to work when cars are continually flowing; therefore, if many cars arrive early, the backup could affect the buses being able to get in the main drive to the bus lot and/or access to the building in the event of an emergency. We ask that you please park IN a parking spot if you have to arrive before 8:15am and/or 3:15pm and not block other parking spots. Again, this is for emergency reasons.
Please also keep your name tag visible in your car until after your child is in and you pull away. In addition, please obey the stop signs around school. Safety of everyone at North Coventry is priority, so please take the extra moment to truly stop at the signs (unless OJR security is here waving you on).
Thank you for your help!

Interested in Volunteering at NCES?
To better serve our students and our community, Owen J. Roberts is transitioned to a new volunteer database called The Raptor System and implemented a revised application process for all volunteers. We are asking all interested volunteers to please take a few minutes to enter their information into this new system and upload their clearances online (no paper forms will be taken).
We are excited to offer opportunities for you to get involved and volunteer at our school. Your participation is vital in supporting our students and creating a positive learning environment.
If you're interested in volunteering, please visit https://www.ojrsd.com/Domain/95 for more information on the clearances you will need, other helpful information about volunteering with the school district and to submit an application.
Thank you for your commitment to our school community. We look forward to working with you to create a great experience for our students!
**Additionally, all school volunteers and school visitors are subject to Raptor screening. Please be sure to bring your drivers license when you come in the building to visit or volunteer.
