Welcome March: Lion or Lamb?!
Read Across America Kick Off
Our students will kick off this week full of reading with amazing outfits and creative minds. We are going to set a reading goal through the month of March. For every book that you read with your child, or your child reads to you, please color in a paper chain link and send it in to school. Our goal is to get the paper chain from one end of the hallway down to the other. If we reach our goal, we will have a building wide celebration at the end of the month. If you need more paper chain links sent home, please send a note in to your child's teacher.
Cold Spring Cub Cafe
February ended with a celebration of Heart Health Month with a schoolwide healthy breakfast from our Food Service Department. Mr. Larry Anthony, kitchen staff, teachers, and our FFA students served heart healthy smoothies, scrambled eggs, and french toast to our students. Hudson Valley Fresh, who provides our school milks, brought a calf to visit! It's not every day that there's a cow in our school. To end our Heart Health Month celebration, we planted seeds with Ms. Wagner, parent and employee of The Rural Refillery in Pine Plains. These can easily be planted in a pot or outside as they are a pollinator seed mix for our pollinators. Healthy bodies and healthy choices make for a healthier world!
Cold Spring Cub Character Tree
Last month our theme was kindness. Thank you for showing kindness at school and at home. We received pictures of our students shoveling the driveway and carrying bags for their grandparents.
During the month of March, our focus is on courage. Coming home are "shout-outs" for you to fill out about your child when they've done something courageous or brave at home. Fill it out, send it in with your child, and we will give them a shout-out here at school! You can help your child be courageous at home by trying a new food for dinner or trying a new activity in your community. Here's a book about courage, and here is a funny book about being courageous.
