I hope everyone is HEALTHY and safe from the icy cold weather recently. Our Board-approved district calendar accounts for 3 snow days throughout the year. We currently have used two of them (11/20/24 & 2/6/25), so there is still one day left to potentially use in the event of another snow day. For those that do not know, New Jersey statute requires public schools to have a minimum of 180 days for students in each school year.
However, the weather this upcoming week looks to be quite interesting. In the event that we need to use additional snow days, either this upcoming week or another time this year, we will look at our contingency plan, located at the bottom of our 24-25 district calendar.
Therefore, if we need to call two snow days this upcoming week, school will operate on an early dismissal schedule for Friday, February 14. Please know that this decision has not yet been made yet, since we have not used up our allotted 3rd snow day. If for some reason, we need to call three snow days this upcoming week, school will also be in session on Monday, February 17th.
More information will be shared as the weather patterns of next week begin to unfold.
Thank you all for your understanding,
Scott Lipson

Role Models of Character Education
Each month, our DTS students will discuss and learn about a character education trait.
January's character education trait was Perseverance.
A student from each PK-5 homeroom and Gr 6-8 content area was chosen because he/she demonstrated responsibility this month and a role model for others.
Congratulations to all of the recipients below!
In February, we will highlight students who demonstrate Compassion!
Illness Reminder
There may be a time that you or any of your children are sick, but still need to be at
arrival or dismissal because of other children.
Please be mindful of other families and avoid contact with others.
February is Black History Month

25-26 Kindergarten
We are now in the process of compiling a list of children who will be
eligible to start Kindergarten in September 2025.
If you have a child in your household who will be 5 years of age on or before October 1, 2025, please complete the survey below.

Save the Date! Earth Day 2025!
We welcome all new and existing 4th and 5th graders to the Elementary chorus. Chorus is every Wednesday morning unless school is cancelled or delayed for emergencies. If your child likes to sing, please encourage them to join us for our first rehearsal!
The district-wide choral festival scheduled for January 15th was postponed to a later date.
More info will be shared when it has been confirmed.
Periodically throughout the year, students' artwork will be featured & spotlighted on Ms. Soleimani's art wall across from her room. This month, we'd like to recognize the efforts of: Wren Verbeyst, Justin Munsey, Charles Johnson, Emma Dickinson, Jack Bower, Paisley Petrucelli, Marley Calderon, Caden Kornberger & Jolene Stehr.
February's character education trait is Compassion! Compassion is important because it creates understanding and strengthens connections between people, building a sense of community and support. It also boosts emotional well-being by encouraging kindness and empathy, benefiting everyone involved. Take a moment to think about one way you can show
compassion to others this month!
