+ POTOMAC PAPAS: Attention Potomac Fathers and Father-Figures! Potomac HS Administration is partnering with our PTSO to be seek more opportunities for our “Potomac Papas” to make an impact at our school! For the 24 – 25 school year, we’re seeking to identify 12 – 15 Potomac Fathers and Father-Figures who can assist with mentoring male students, providing ongoing tech support for the PTSO website, scheduling weekly hallway presence opportunities during the school day, and coordinating halftime fundraisers at select athletic events.
If you’re interested in hearing more about becoming a Potomac Papa for the 24 – 25 school year, please complete THIS quick survey. We’ll seek to provide more information and plan a brief meet-up before the end of the school year to begin framing plans for next year. Please sign-up today!
+ QUICK UPDATES:
- SOL RETAKES: From now through Winter Break, students who are eligible for SOL retakes for previously enrolled courses will be contacted for testing. Although turnaround times will be tight, individual departments will communicate online and in-person practice/remediation opportunities for students to assist with preparation before they test. VDOE Released Tests linked HERE are also a good resource for independent review.
- YEARBOOKS: Our Potomac Yearbook staff is busy building an awesome 2025 Potomac Prowler yearbook! Order your copy early or purchase your Senior Ads HERE! Please email our Yearbook Advisor, Mr. Joseph Wilke (wilkeja@pwcs.edu), with any questions.
+ CODE ORANGE: As we shift into the colder months, please see THIS link to PWCS Inclement Weather information and see updated information below regarding Potomac’s plans if a "Code Orange" designation is made.
- Normally scheduled in-person classes will occur virtually utilizing the schedule below.
- Students enrolled in the PWCS K-8 Virtual Academy, Virtual Prince William, and Virtual Virginia should follow their normal daily virtual schedule.
- Students will need to turn their cameras on and participate in the class to be counted as present. Blurred or other backgrounds can be utilized by students.
- Teachers will take attendance in each class using the Hub as normally done using the typical codes.
- To access a teacher's Zoom session on a Code Orange Day, students must log into their Canvas course and use the link provided by the classroom teacher.
- We have a limited number of free mobile hotspots available to families with financial need to provide high-speed internet access from home for students to use their devices. Please email our School Social Worker, Ms. Pippens, at PippenMN@pwcs.edu if your family would like additional details on possibly renting a free mobile hotspot for home internet use.
- If you need technical assistance with your Zoom App, please contact the PWCS Help Desk at 703.791.8826. The Help Desk is open from 7:00am to 4:30pm, Monday-Friday.
On Code Orange days: School buildings and office buildings are closed and buses will not operate. All in-person school activities (day and evening) are canceled, including field trips, team practices, club meetings, interscholastic contests, and athletic contests. When possible, remote (virtual) extracurricular activities may occur.
+ POTOMAC MUSIC UPDATES: Our Potomac Music Department has several awesome events planned in the coming weeks. Please see the flyer below and come out to support Potomac Music!
+ POTOMAC ANGEL TREE: Every year, our Potomac Student Activities Leadership Class (SALC) students coordinate our participation in the Angel Tree program to help provide Christmas gifts for Panthers in need in our community and we’re proud to participate again this year! For anyone interested in contributing, our SALC classes are encouraging the purchase of $25 gift cards to major stores like Walmart, Target, and Amazon and submitting them to our SALC teachers, Mr. Cooper (Room 2509) or Ms. Catlett (Room 7002), by December 16th. Thanks again to our Potomac SALC students and teachers for making the holidays brighter for families in our community!

+ DRILLS: This week we will hold a Lockdown Drill to norm our processes and procedures in case of an emergency. Please note that these exercises are only drills. In case of a true emergency, parents will receive clear and direct email/text messages indicating “emergency messaging” with status updates and further information.
