Principals' Message
Dear SCS Families and Caregivers,
It’s hard not to end the week on a high note when it’s this beautiful outside. Lots of classes enjoyed an extra recess or outside time given the perfect fall weather. We’re grateful to have a spruced-up outdoor classroom to host visits as well - thanks to everyone who helped out with that last month. In other nature news, check out the photo of the nearly full moon rising above SCS this morning!
In addition to the outdoor aspects of our school looking lovely, we’d like to highlight a few facilities projects that we’ve been working on at SCS of late. We don’t get many opportunities to show off our back office area to the public, but we did receive grants that allowed us to install a brand new Mamava lactation pod in September! In addition to providing our faculty and staff an additional nursing or pumping option, it will be available for families to use during school wide events. We are also now the proud owners of a free Therapy Pod thanks to the generosity of the United Way of Northwest Vermont. It was installed last week in a hallway nook near our Kindergarten classrooms. This therapy pod will be used by a variety of adults and students who may need a private space to work one-on-one during the school day. New carpet went into the front desk area this morning, and we’re hoping to have Jane and Jen into their newly upgraded space any day now. Finally, keep a lookout in future newsletters for updates on a new climbing wall coming to our SCS gym this year…
This weekend, we hope to see many of you at our PTO Fall Festival and Cornhole Tourney! It should be a beautiful fall day to spend with family and friends - all are welcome. Our next BIG events happen to fall on the same evening next week: the CVSD Community Budget Forum (6-8pm at CVU) and the Outright VT Caregiver event (6:30-8:30pm at SCS) on Tuesday, October 22nd. Ms. Celmer will be at the Community Budget Forum, and Mr. Cluff will be at the Outright event at SCS. The Outright event will have snacks and childcare available, thanks again to our incredible PTO! Enjoy the weekend, all.
Take care,
Alison, Brett, & Emily

Morning Movement Reminders
Please remind ALL participants of Morning Movement that they need to put ALL backpacks, coats, shoes, etc. on the hooks in the hallway across from the gym OR on the bleachers where they sit so that we can maintain a clear entrance/exit at the doors in the gym. This is becoming a major safety concern that can be easily resolved. Our adult volunteers will also remind students to pick up their belongings so they are not in the way of egress.
Thank you for your help in reminding kids about this expectation!
We are always looking for reliable, consistent community volunteers to help us monitor students between 7:25-7:45am daily. If you are available and interested, please contact Christine Haines at chaines@cvsdvt.org
CVSD Community Budget Forum
Learn about our fiscal climate, engage in civil dialogue and share support for our schools at this Tuesday’s Community Budget Forum.
Join us in the CVU Library from 6-7:15 p.m., or you can participate via Zoom (find meeting information here). Faculty and staff, students, families and more are welcome.
