Summer Learning
Dear Meadows Families,
As we head into the summer break, I want to remind you of the importance of continuing your child's learning journey over the summer months. Research has shown that students who don't engage in regular reading and learning activities during the summer can experience a significant decline in their academic skills, often referred to as the "summer slide." To avoid this setback, we encourage your child to continue reading and learning, whether through books, online resources, or educational games. This not only helps maintain their knowledge and skills but also fosters a love for lifelong learning.
When you travel, I invite you to ask your child to keep a journal to record their adventures and discoveries. Encourage them to write or draw about what they see, learn, and experience each day.
This can be a fun and engaging way for them to process their thoughts and reflections, while also developing their writing and critical thinking skills. We are excited to provide a list of recommended summer reading materials and learning activities listed below to support your child's continued growth and development.
I wish you all a safe and relaxing summer, filled with time spent with loved ones, adventure, and recharging. May the sunshine and warmth bring joy and happiness to your lives.
Take Care,
Ms. Waslif

Personal Best Pyramid of Success Assembly with Cal Berkeley Soccer Coach
Coach Griffin shared with our Meadows Mustangs his "above the line" philosophy of coaching as a leadership concept. It's based on the idea that we can either respond to a situation thoughtfully or automatically react. "Above the line" behavior is open, positive, and responsible.
