COSI on Wheels!
COSI On Wheels is coming to Maple Dale on Friday, October 14th and we need your help! This year’s theme is The Incredible Human Machine and should be a great time for all. Interested in volunteering? Please go to the Sign-Up Genius link below and contact Stephanie Rentschler with any questions (s.rentschler@medpace.com).
Vision and Hearing Screen Sign-ups!
Vision and Hearing Screens for Kindergarten, First Grade, and Third Grade will take place the week of October 10th–October 14th. This is a fun, easy way to get involved at school and only requires a short time commitment. A short training will be provided prior to the screens. The vision and hearing screens allow us to detect vision and hearing problems early, and would not be possible without parent volunteers. Please consider volunteering and sign up by clicking on the link below.

Box Tops!
Please turn in Box Tops to the school office or homeroom teachers for Maple
Dale’s Box Tops Fall Collection Drive between now and Friday October 14th.
This is a low-effort fundraiser that provides money to the Maple Dale PTO to
support its programs. The PTO appreciates the time you take to clip Box Tops for
the benefit of our children and the school.
Please contact Laura Scholles at ljs@zoomtown.com with questions.
WALK-A-THON!
Heads up! WALK-A-THON packets will be coming home on Monday, September
26th. Look for some SILLY new rewards for top fundraisers and mark your calendars for WALK-A-THON day – Thursday October 20.
WALK-A-THON is Maple Dale PTO’s major fall fundraiser. It is a fun and healthy
opportunity for students, and families to work together to support our
school. Our goal this year is to raise $18,000, which will be used to create a
MAKER SPACE in the media center and to support ongoing PTO programs (like One Book One School, COSI on Wheels, and author visits).
Thank you for supporting our students and our school!
From the Media Center!
I am having a great start to my 21st year in elementary media.
The students are working well together in their House placements and the
the longer class periods have added more depth to student lessons. Hopefully your child is coming home and sharing some of our learning!
For example, I didn't know baby seahorses were as big as an eyelash...did you?
Currently, I am working on our March author visit with Candace Fleming, new reading incentives, and coordinating Makerspace projects with Greene.
My website is in its infancy stage, but I hope to keep it current and
filled with educational fun for our students. To access the page please visit:
https://sites.google.com/a/sycamoreschools.org/brary-bulletin/
The website has a link to a Pinterest page for students. You must have a Pinterest account to view what I've pinned. We are going to attempt some of these hands on projects in class, but feel free to try them at home. It has been one of the most engaging things I've embarked on this year.
If anyone is interested in spending an hour shelving they may contact me at smithni@sycamoreschools.org
Have a great weekend!
