Designer purse BINGO is BACK! This is one of our school's biggest fundraisers and is used to fund field trips and school resources to benefit our students.

Get your tickets ASAP (limited seats). $25.00 pre-purchased tickets $30.00 at the door. 20 regular games and 2 special games. Raffles, 50/50, concessions and daubers will be available. Doors open at 11:00 AM BINGO starts promptly at 12:00PM.

Tickets can be purchased in advance in the office or by contacting Mrs. Guth at tguth@lebanon.k12.pa.us. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.

Rewards/Incentives

Each month, you will receive information regarding PBIS, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. This month, your child can earn a variety of incentives through the PBIS program for demonstrating respectful, responsible, and safe behavior.

Monthly Rewards: Prize to Take Home, Rent a Fidget, Pick a Reward Coupon, Spheros

1:1:1 Reward (1 or less unlawful absences, missing assignments and discipline referrals): Hot Chocolate

Cafeteria and Hallway prizes vary based on the number of times classes were rewarded for respectful, responsible, and safe behaviors.

Parents

If you would like to be involved in the process in which the school rewards students for good behavior (PBIS), please reach out to Mrs. Hain at jhain@lebanon.k12.pa.us. The meetings happen once a month at the school. Time to be announced. Thank you!

Your child's teacher will be reaching out to you about Valentine's Day. Please note that there is no requirement to bring in valentines for the class, but if you choose to do so, any edible item must be pre-packaged.

Celebrate today with a random act of kindness. There are many free ways to spread kindness, including some of the suggestions below.

• Give 3 people a compliment.
• Make cards for local hospitals, nursing homes, police stations, fire stations, neighbors, school, etc.
• Leave a special treat for your mail carrier or sanitation workers.
• Clean up trash around your house. Use gloves and make sure an adult is present.
• Choose a person. Make a list of things you like or love about them. Give him/her the list.
• Color someone a picture.
• Donate old blankets to the Humane Society.
• Donate used items to local shelters.
• Surprise someone with a baked snack.
• Let someone go in front of you in line.
• Help a sibling with their homework.
• Read a good book to someone.
• Post inspirational sticky notes for people to find.
• Return shopping carts for people at the grocery story. Make sure an adult is present to help you.
• Help an adult cook dinner.
• Choose a chore you don't normally help with at home and complete it without being asked.
• Write positive sidewalk chalk messages on the sidewalk for your neighbors.
• Call a family member you haven't seen in a while to tell them you miss them.
• Tell a school adult why you appreciate him/her.
• Talk to someone new at school

Black History Month is a time to celebrate the achievements and contributions of African Americans throughout history. There are many resources available for you and your child to explore and enjoy together. Not sure where to begin? Check out some of the following resources.

Library Resources

Students will be reading "Ruby Bridges" and "Henry's Freedom Box" in library class. Other available books will be on display for students to check out from the library to learn about and celebrate Black History Month. The public library is also a great resource for books to enjoy as a family.

Southwest has a little library in front of the school available for any student to borrow, keep, or share a book. We hope this helps to spread the love of reading across the entire Southwest community.

If you know anyone looking to get rid of or donate lightly used children's books, ask them to consider donating to the Southwest little library. If it is full, books can be donated to the office to be used to replenish the library.

All Southwest families are able to sign up for Power Packs at any time throughout the year.

Power Packs is a program that provides families with the ingredients and recipes to provide your family with nutritious weekend meals. The Power Pack includes produce, milk, and some other pantry items. The program is free and distribution occurs weekly. Southwest's distribution site is Lebanon County Christian Ministries on Wednesday afternoons.

If you have not done so already, please connect with us using the app "ClassDojo". Reach out to your child's teacher if you need help connecting. We will be using this app to send district and school updates and information.

If your child is absent from school, please provide a parent or doctor's note within 3 days of your child returning to school. Notes can be turned into your child's teacher or the office and can also be submitted electronically by messaging Mrs. Sutton on ClassDojo or emailing Mrs. Sutton at the following email address: SW-Attendance@lebanon.k12.pa.us.

If you're looking for a way to become involved at Southwest and aren't sure where to start, join the PFO. The PFO meets monthly to help make decisions and plan for events. Your input is valuable. Please email kbensing@lebanon.k12.pa.us if interested in being a part of the PFO.
