Principal's Message
Hello AEEC families and welcome to the first newsletter of the 2024-25 school year!
For those new, newsletters will be emailed to parents at the beginning of each month to keep you updated on the latest news and happenings from various departments as well as any special information. I am excited about the start of this school year! Our students transitioned smoothly and are learning procedures and routines. It has been a joy to watch students make new friendships and build relationships. This will truly be a wonderful year where everyone shines brighter!
We are thrilled to welcome our new teachers and staff members! The kindergarten team welcomed Caroline Dieckmann and Kallie Merritt. Annie Hillman joined our second grade team. We're excited that they are a part of the AEEC family!
Please join us for Curriculum Night on Tuesday, August 20th. This parent only event will be held in your child's classroom. You will have the opportunity to learn about classroom procedures, expectations, schedules, and academics. Our first PTO meeting will also be held at this event. View the flyer below to see detailed event information.
Our first Pep Rally will be held on August 30th. The entire staff and student body will have a lot of fun learning what it means to live out our core value of "Self Control" at this event. The Pep Rally will have an Olympic theme, and we'll share the importance of making responsible choices. Our mini majorettes will perform, and we invite any student who would like to participate to bring a baton to school that day.
With appreciation,
Glori Lammons

Curriculum News
Welcome back to an amazing school year at AEEC! We were so excited to see all of those smiling faces enter the building. Students have been hard at work building relationships, learning routines and procedures, and building a strong community within their classroom.
While at AEEC, one of our main goals is building a strong foundation of reading and writing for your child to build upon. Reading is very complex and requires many components (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, oral language, etc.) to be explicitly and systematically taught. We are working hard with your child every day to build and instill a strong reading foundation. However, learning doesnāt stop at school. There are many ways you can help your child build that strong foundation: read to or with your child, encourage your child to read for pleasure, have conversations about what you read, and spend time noticing details in illustrations. All of these are valuable opportunities to help your child build a solid reading and writing foundation. Building a LOVE of reading in your child is our goal!

Title 1 News
Welcome to an exciting new year at AEEC! Iām looking forward to a wonderful school year full of joy, purpose, and fun!
AEEC is excited to be back as a school-wide Title 1 school! Being a Title 1 School means receiving federal funding (Title 1 dollars) to supplement the schoolās existing programs. These dollars are used for:
- identifying students experiencing academic difficulties and providing timely assistance to help these students meet the stateās challenging content standards
- purchasing supplemental staff/programs/materials/supplies
- conducting parent and family engagement meetings/trainings/activities
Being a Title 1 school also means parent and family involvement and knowing their rights under ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act). This is just a small snapshot of what being a Title 1 school entails but if you have any questions, please reach out to me.
Always Choose Kindness,
Dr. Dorman

Counselor News
I hope you all had a great summer! I am so excited to start a new school year as your school counselor. We are going to have an AWESOME year! During the month of August, we will be doing some āAll About Meā activities. For those of you who are new to AEEC, each month we have a Core Essential value (or what we call a word of the month). Our word of the month for August is self-control. We will be focusing on getting acclimated to school, listening skills, following directions, self-control.
I am looking forward to working with your child this school year. As always, if you need anything, donāt hesitate to reach out.
