Winter Conferences
Conference dates: February 4 and 13
Time: 3:45 PM – 7:45 PM
Winter Parent-Teacher Conferences will follow the Arena Style format, just like in the fall. This means that all teachers will be located in one of our gyms, or other nearby location, and parents do not need to sign up for a specific time in advance. Instead, conferences will operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
Teachers will be stationed on the east side of the building.
We encourage parents to park in the east parking lot and enter Door #4.
A detailed list of teachers and their exact locations will be provided closer to the conference date.
If you are unable to attend the conferences on February 4 or February 13 please reach out to your child's teacher directly to arrange an alternative meeting time.
We look forward to seeing you there and appreciate your ongoing support!
Student Safety - Crosswalk
Dear Jackson Middle School Parents:
My name is Investigator Anthony Mortinson and I am the School Resource Officer at Jackson Middle School. Every morning I sit and watch the crosswalk to ensure the safety of your children as they cross 109th Avenue. But lately, I have noticed a slight uptick in vehicles not stopping for our crossing guards.
The crosswalk on 109th, which is directly in front of Jackson Middle School, is the main crosswalk for most of our pedestrian traffic. So I just wanted to remind everyone to please slow down and take your time while in the school zone. If a driver does not stop for the crossing guards, this is a misdemeanor offense and a citation can be issued under Minnesota State Statute 169.21 Subd. 2 (c). A citation can also be issued if the crossing guard wants to file a written complaint, if a police officer is not present at the time of the offense.
I want to thank you for taking the time to read this short reminder.
And please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about any other safety concerns at Jackson Middle School. I can be reached at anthony.mortinson@ahschools.us.
Best Regards,
Investigator Anthony Mortinson

8th Grade Capstone
8th grade students have begun work on their capstone project. They have brainstormed ideas in all of their classes and have had time to consider what topic they will choose. Wednesday, January 29 will be a stop day for all 8th graders, meaning they will work on their capstone project all day Wednesday in all of their classes. Wednesday is a critical work day and attendance is very important. Students should come on Wednesday with the following:
- knowing what topic they want to pursue for their project
- who, if anyone, they want to work with (no more than 4 in a group)
- their charged chromebook
- capstone journal
