Message from Mrs. Gilbert & Mr. Ramalho
Our first week of Fall has been filled with learning and ice cream! Thank you to everyone who helped us host another successful Ice Cream Social, as always it was very well attended showing the great community spirit here at South Row.
Coming up next week, the PTO will host its monthly meeting. Please consider attending to find out ways in which you can get involved and stay current on the many activities and events happening at South Row.
Respectfully,
Terri and Jayson

Reminders/ Updates
Weather changing: Fall is approaching! Please be sure your child comes to school with a jacket/sweatshirt and is prepared for the changing temperatures that come with fall.
REMINDER - Pokemon Cards & Sports Cards: Please DO NOT send Pokemon cards or sports cards to school with your student. Pokemon cards and sports cards are a distraction for students and have also added to disruption on the bus. Thank you in advance.
Library Volunteers: Our wonderful librarian Mrs. Hamm is looking for volunteers during library times. Would you like to assist in the library during your child’s class? If so, contact Mrs. Hamm at hammm@chelmsford.k12.ma.us. We appreciate the help. As a reminder, you will need to have a current CORI on file.
4th Grade Student Council: More information on the optional 4th-grade student council club will be shared in October. There will be an application process and a video shared with students to learn more about the program. More information to come soon!
Water bottles: Please send your student to school with a water bottle, especially in this heat! We have a few water bottle filling stations that students can use throughout the day.
Nurse's Corner
Dear South Row Families,
Free Covid Test Kits!
We have a limited supply of free Covid test kits for families this year. We will be handing out free kits (1 per student) to families next week, 10/3-10/7 from 10am-3pm while supplies last. Kits will be given out first come first serve. We are not able to send kits home in backpacks, parents must come into the main office to get kits. We will send out a communication when all the kits have been distributed.
Here are some reminders about when your child can return to school after illness.
We recommend children not come to school if they appear to be ill. We advise you to keep your child home if he/she has a sore throat, severe cold, rash, fever, vomiting and/or diarrhea. Your child needs to stay home if he/she has any of the following:
Strep Throat: If strep throat is suspected and the child either has had a negative throat culture or has been on antibiotics and fever free for a full 24 hours.
A fever over 100: May return to school when he/she is fever free for 24 hours without medication (e.g. Tylenol or Advil).
Vomiting and/or diarrhea: May return to school 24 hours after his/her last vomiting and/or diarrhea episode.
Red or pink itchy eyes with crusty and or green/yellow drainage: May return to school the day after treatment for 24 hours or has no further eye discharge.
Head Lice or nits (eggs): The nurse will assess the student for the presence of head lice or nits. If head lice or nits are detected, the nurse will contact the parent/guardian and provide education on lice treatment. Based on the discretion of the school nurse, some situations may warrant a dismissal from school
A rash of unknown cause: May require MD clearance at the discretion of the school nurse.
We recommend covid testing if your student has symptoms from the below list.
COVID-19 Symptoms List:
• Fever (100.0° Fahrenheit or higher), chills, or shaking chills
• Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
• New loss of taste or smell
• Muscle aches or body aches
• Cough (not due to other known cause, such as chronic cough)
• Sore throat, when in combination with other symptoms
• Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea when in combination with other symptoms
• Headache when in combination with other symptoms
• Fatigue, when in combination with other symptoms
• Nasal congestion or runny nose (not due to other known causes, such as allergies) when in combination with other symptoms
Feel free to reach out to me with questions or concerns.
Warmly,
Nurse V.
