Monthly Update from the Principal's Desk - September 2024
November 2024
Happy Fall, Y'all!
RMS... what a opening first quarter of the year! It has flown by. We had so many great things to celebrate! From being named a NATIONAL SCHOOL OF DISTINCTION, to holding an amazing Week of Respect and Red Ribbon Week, to an absolutely fantastic assembly, RMS had it all!
We also had an AMAZING Student Council Halloween Bash and not one, but TWO fields trips with our 7th grade going on the annual Walk in the Woods and the 8th grade going to the YMCA Fairview Lakes campsite! What a month at RMS.
I hope you had the chance to meet with your child's teachers at conferences to get a sense of the great things that are going on and the academic, social and emotional growth your child is making at Readington Middle School. A special thanks to our teachers for being amazing at what they do!
As we turn the page to the second quarter of the year, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks to each of you. Your support and involvement make RMS a wonderful place for students to learn and grow. It’s a joy to see the sense of community that you help foster each day, and I am grateful for the trust you place in us to guide and educate your children.
Wishing you a Thanksgiving filled with warmth, joy, and the company of loved ones. May it be a time of rest, gratitude, and memorable moments. So, until next month, please be well and Go Vikings!

RMS Celebrates Red Ribbon Week
At RMS, the Red Ribbon Week was supported a number of ways at RMS. Red Ribbon Week serves as a reminder that we are all empowered with shaping the communities around us through positivity, bravery and strength. In PE classes, students have been learning about this theme and what it means to be drug free. All students signed the Red Ribbon Campaign posters to pledge to live a drug free lifestyle.
In 6th grade, Prevention Resources came to speak to the students about the dangers of vaping. Finally, Officer Gilmurray and Officer Bernhart of the Readington Township Police Department spoke to the students about School Violence Prevention and Red Ribbon Week.

No Passport Needed & Viking Broadcast - Wegmans Visits RMS
On October 24, 2024, The Executive Chef, Phil Levenfus, from Wegmans in Bridgewater visited our school to demonstrate the Japanese culinary art of Sushi. Chef Phil graciously supplied all the necessary ingredients and accouterments for rolling sushi and providing samples to the students. Chef Phil shared with the students what led him down the path into the culinary arts and extensive knowledge which he accumulated over the last 20 years. Students who attended Chef Phil’s presentation are enrolled in the elective course for seventh graders titled, No Passport Needed: Climate, Cultures and Cuisines of the World. This course is taught by sixth grade social studies teachers, Lisa Moor and Vincent Biancamano. This course allows students to explore how a country’s geography influences culture and cuisines that become traditional staples at dinner tables and restaurants. The course seeks to include cultural and food experiences for the students while at school. Mrs. Moor and Mr. Biancamano are working to create partnerships within the Readington community as well as with local organizations, establishments and restaurants. If you know of someone who would be interested in partnering with Readington Middle School students to share their cultural traditions, please contact Mrs. Lisa Moor or Mr. Vincent Biancamano at Readington Middle School. We would welcome this collaborative opportunity.

Technology at RMS
During our school day, cell phones and other non-school issued devices (included Smart Watches) are not to be used by students. Students excel academically and socially when not tied to cell phones and the distraction of texts and social media. Students should be focused on learning and not on phones. Cell phones should be kept in students' lockers.
All students are issued district Chromebooks.
If you need to reach your student, please do not text them but rather call the main office and you will be put in touch with your child. Thank you for your partnership!
