- Clayton and Al will be teaching different treatments for pests such as varroa mites, wax moths, and hive beetles!
- We are going to play Hanna's trivia game...so study up & bring your A game! :)

*Be sure to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated and all your protective beekeeping ware (veil, gloves, & jacket) and BEE sure to spray for ticks and chiggers!
Note: Our club is looking for volunteers to host field days this year! Field days are held one Saturday per month, April through September. We will have a sign up sheet at the welcome table at our upcoming meeting if you are interested in hosting. :)
2024 BAC Membership
It's not too late to pay your dues for 2024! There are many perks to becoming a member of the club! It's easy to join our club as either a new member or to simply renew your membership!
Simply log into beesaliveclub.org to find the membership area under the shop section. You can securely pay your $25.00 dues from the comfort of your own home!
You can also join or renew your B.A.C.membership for 2024 at our upcoming meeting! Cash or check is preferred.

July Flashback
July's Ice Cream Social was a great success! THANK YOU to EVERYONE who shared delicious homemade ice cream and treats! AND...THANKS to Clayton for sharing his process for harvesting honey! We appreciate you!
Watermelon Honey
Sweeten up your day with this homemade Watermelon Honey recipe! Perfect for drizzling over breakfast favorites or adding a touch of summer to your desserts. Try it out and savor the deliciousness!
Ingredients:
4 cups of watermelon puree
1 cup of honey
Juice of 1 lemon
Instructions:
In a blender, puree the watermelon chunks until smooth.
In a saucepan, combine the watermelon puree, honey, and lemon juice.
Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until the honey is completely dissolved.
Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat and let it cool completely.
Transfer the watermelon honey mixture to a clean glass jar and store it in the refrigerator.
Enjoy your homemade watermelon honey on toast, pancakes, yogurt, or as a topping for desserts!

Bees Alive Club has signed up to work the MSBA table at the MO State Fair in Sedalia. No experience needed! We just need volunteers who can share their love for honeybees!

This BAC meeting will be our Annual BAC Picnic and Bonfire! Al has graciously offered to host this event! Stay tuned for more info as we get closer to this fun event!
October 26, 2024
The MO State Beekeepers Association Fall Conference will be held in Arnold, Missouri at the Family Life Center. This one day event will feature six simultaneous tracks of classes!
The keynote speaker is Dr. Larry Connor, owner of WicWas Press and a renowned author of many books about Beekeeping.
Other speakers will include:
Theresa Martin, author of Dead Bees Don't Make Honey, who will make several presentations on keeping bees healthy and preparing them to survive the winter.
Sheldon and Courtney Brummel from the University of Nebraska will present research on Hygienic Behavior, comparison of winter survivability in different types of hives, and The Great Plains Master Beekeeping Program.
Other topics will include:
Value Added Hive Products, Planning for Pollinators-USDA Financial Assistance, Treatment for Bee Stings and Emergencies, Medicinal Uses for Honey and Other Hive Products, Benefits of Swarming, Honey Recipes, an all day Beginner Track, and many more!
A Vendor Hall will contain one of the tracks with vendors making presentations of new products and specials on the equipment they sell. More information as well as registration info can be found at mobees.org after August 1st.

Nominations for the 2025-2026 Bees Alive Board will be coming up at our November meeting
with the election being held in December. If you are interested in holding a position on our planning
team, reach out to any of the current board members for more information!
MSBA Missouri Specialty License Plate
At last count, we were 102/200 registered to the first printing. If you haven’t registered, now is the time to be among the first with the coolest plate in the state! Go to mobees.org/beefriendly to register!
Check out these BUZZ-WORTHY FACTS!
- Honey bees came to America by way of the Pilgrims in the 1600s, and by the 1850s had made it all the way to California!
- Bees like to live in dark places and can be found in hollow trees and even used to be kept in empty logs before the invention of the modern beehive.

Bees Alive Club has a Bee Buddy Program and it's easy to enroll! At our next meeting when you sign in, you simply mark if you want to be a Bee Buddy or want to have a Bee Buddy!
