Founders Memorial School News: December 20, 2024
From the Principal
Dear FMS Families,
It’s hard to believe that we are approaching our winter break. We have had a busy last few weeks, and today we had so much fun with our annual Minute-to-Win-It celebration. Ask your child about the different classrooms they visited and which games they played!
I want to share a huge thank you to the PTO for delivering all of the delicious baked goods to us this week. Thank you to all of the families who made these delicious treats!
I hope you all have a restful and relaxing break and a happy new year. We will see you back at school in 2025.
Sincerely,
Sara Jablonski
FMS Principal
Save the Date: Family BINGO Night!
We are having our second annual family BINGO event at FMS on Thursday, January 16th, from 6:30-7:30 pm. Please fill out the form below if you are interested in coming! We are looking forward to having many families join us.
PBIS Updates
When we return from break, we take time to review our schoolwide expectations so students can jump right back into learning! Please review the link below before our children return to school. We appreciate your cooperation with this.
Schoolwide Field Trip
While you have signed the permission slip - you might not realize that we are taking a schoolwide field trip to a UVM Women’s Basketball Game for Kids’ Day on Thursday, January 9. This will be a chance for us to enjoy an inspiring game as an entire school community! Space is limited so we are not able to bring chaperones - but the just about the entire staff will be attending with all of our students. Go, Cats!
Coaches Needed for Girls on the Run
This season help girls as a Girls on the Run coach and teach them that they have the power to keep going, no matter what they encounter. In our curriculum coaches empower girls to tackle challenges, giving them the confidence to do hard things, encourage others to do the same, and make a difference in their community. Sign up to coach and be a part of the movement today!
Not a runner? Haven’t coached before? No problem! Girls on the Run VT (GOTRVT) provides training, easy to follow lesson plans, supplies and support for a transformational season. Our season begins the week of March 17, 2025, and ends with a celebratory 5K on Saturday, May 31st. Over the 10 week season our team will meet twice weekly for 90 minute sessions to connect, move, learn and have FUN!
Visit gotrvt.org/coach to learn more or sign up to volunteer. Questions? Contact GOTRVT at info@girlsontherunvermont.org or 802-871-5664.

From the Health Office
Please be advised that we have seen an increase in cases of Strep Throat at FMS this week.
Only a small portion of sore throats are the result of strep throat. However, it is important to identify this bacterial infection and get treatment. The bacteria that causes strep throat responds quickly to antibiotics, and treatment stops the infection from spreading to other people.
Strep throat is most common in children between the ages of 5 and 15, but it affects people of all ages. In addition to throat soreness, signs and symptoms typically include a fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, lethargy, swollen glands, and in some cases a rash. Younger children may also complain of abdominal pain.
If your student exhibits these symptoms, please contact their physician. Please contact the nurses office at 802-857-6304 if your student is diagnosed with a strep infection. If diagnosed, the student should remain out of school until antibiotics have been given for 24 hours and the student is fever-free for 24 hours.
Thank you,
Alicia Goodkind RN

Third grade travels across the world stopping at all 7 continents. Fourth grade learns about time zones and stops at 2 States in each time zone. Fifth grade learns about the Western Hemisphere and travels across South America.
