Kids Heart Challenge - CONGRATULATIONS!
Final Results as of Friday, March 1st:
We came together last Friday to celebrate our students, staff, and families for participating in this year's Kids Heart Challenge. We highlighted how it important it is for all of us to continue to learn about our bodies and how to keep it healthy - especially our heart! ❤️
We did not reach our goal of having 200 students registered or 54 students completing Finn's Mission for students to silly string pre-selected staff. Students were disappointed and there were some mumblings in the crowd when this was announced. But that's OKAY! We're not going to always reach every goal all the time. HOWEVER, there was a surprise for students! The top three fundraisers (Sonia/1VK, Morgan/3CN, & Lehn/4MR) all got to select a staff to silly string for earning the top fundraisers award! Student enjoyed seeing Mrs. Koss, Mr. White, and Mr. Kelley get covered with silly string to end the assembly!
Hoover Highlights ✨
MN Wild Face-Off for Fitness Assembly:
We had a great time welcoming Nordy and the rest of the cool MN Wild VIPs to our building. Our students and staff showed our spirit with Wild Gear and were fabulous welcoming the Wild Crew onsite. Click here for pictures.
2nd Grade Science Museum STEMH Offsite Field Experience:
Our 2nd-graders ventured to St. Paul and visited the Science Museum of MN to engage in the interactive learning opportunities. Students, staff, and chaperones let their inner-scientist and engineer shine as they participated in hands-on, inquiry based learning. Click here for pictures.
LAUNCH Program Service Learning Project:
The "Coffee & Treats Cart" made its first appearance this past week! This student-supported entrepreneurial endeavor featured some of our students in our LAUNCH program. We had a greeter, a "barista," a "server," and a "cashier." Students visited Collaboration Meetings throughout the day to provide refreshments to our teachers who were deep in planning. Our students raised $55 on their first day! Thank you to Mrs. Thomas, Mr. Canaday, all of our LAUNCH paraeducators and everyone who donated items to make this happen! Next month, it's going to popcorn! Click here for more pictures.
3rd Grade Conquer Ninja Gym STEMH Offsite Field Experience:
3rd-grade students put their minds and bodies to work and headed over to Blaine to test out their ninja skills and mindset! How do they keep their bodies healthy and strengthen their respiratory systems to "breathe" through the stress?! Our students represented Hoover well and received high praises from the staff! #thehooverway. Pictures will be shared soon!
Academic Growth Award Event:
Eleven Hoover students, grades 3-5, were recognized for their hard work at Blaine High School this past week. It was a wonderful evening celebrating students across the district! 3rd Grade Students - Amiet A, Howard B, Hunter S; 4th Grade Students - Elliott T, Richard S, Wyatt H, Hafsa N, Jayden V, Mackenzie B; 5th Grade Students - Nate K, Fred C.

World Arts Celebration Choir Opportunity
Hoover’s annual World Arts Celebration Night is April 25, 2024. This year, students are invited to join a choir to perform at the event. Our first rehearsal will be Tuesday, March 19, after school. After that, the choir will meet on Monday afternoons, March 25 through April 22. We are meeting in the Explorations room after school until 5:15 and 3rd through 5th-grade students are invited to join. There is no cost to join. Attendance is very important and will be taken weekly. In addition, Hoover students will be expected to be on their best behavior during practices and performance. If a student must miss a rehearsal, please let me know in advance if possible. There may be additional rehearsals and this will be communicated by note and email.
Please fill out the linked form if your child would like to join the choir. I am excited to offer this opportunity to Hoover students. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Parent Educator and VSC Updates
Parent Educator, Nichol Michaels - March Parent Press - Taking the Chore out of Chores
- Chores are important for kids to have. It teaches kids responsibilities and helps build their independent skills. Unfortunately, some kids don't want to put in the extra work. Starting at a young age, every person in the household should have chores. This shows kids that some tasks are done just because they are part of the family unit and it helps make the household run smoother. Here are some tips and activities for home, to help take the chore out of chores.
Volunteer Service Coordinator, Tina Fletcher - March VSC Newsletter
- Is your child's field trip coming up? Are you wanting to help with the Spring Carnival on May 3rd? Contribute time to Track and Field? Volunteer for activities during the school day?
- These are all big events that we love having volunteers to help with but we need to have a completed Hoover Volunteer Application on file along with a CRHR giving us permission to run a background check for those 18 years and older.
- Did you know you don't have to be an adult to volunteer?
- Yes, some volunteer opportunities require you to be an adult to volunteer for our school. But we do have several ways to volunteer for those who are 12 to 17 years old. Come volunteer as a family for big events like the Spring Carnival.
- Some other ways for teens to volunteer include:
- Workroom- copying, cutting, sorting, etc.
- PTO Childcare
- Spring Carnival
- Movie Nights
- Bingo Nights
- Reading Night, Math Night, and other school led events
- All that is needed is a Hoover Volunteer Application.
- Looking for ways to help our school and already have your forms completed or wanting to contribute to a wishlist for our school? Click this link to see current opportunities and needs!
