Dear VPE families,

I hope everyone is settling into a great school year. I can’t believe it's already September.

Boosterthon was a great success and we appreciate your support so very much! The PTA is so thankful for the support of our school community. Thanks to the generosity of our families, we will use the funds we raised to fund a Scholastic Bookroom for the school. The money raised will also help fund all of the other fun activities the school and PTA has planned for the year.

While we are grateful for the monetary help, the PTA needs members and volunteers to run all of our events and activities. Don’t forget to join the PTA – and come to our monthly meetings on the second Thursday of each month at 7:45 am. Our first meeting is Thursday, September 12, 2024. You can join us in person in the school library or on zoom! The meetings are full of updates, information, and future ways to get involved. Please also join the Veterans Park Elementary PTA Facebook page for updates and information on sign ups for events!

Remember- many hands make for light work! We recently sent home a volunteer opportunities form. We'd love to find out who might be interested in helping with different events. If you select an activity, you aren't obligated to help – the PTA will just reach out to you with more details. We also soon have an online version of this form for easier access. Please get involved. The more volunteers we have the more activities we can do! We have a job that can fit with anyone’s skill set or time availability. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions.

Dear Parents,

"How can a busy parent like myself take on another commitment, there's just no time." Sound familiar? I get it, I'm right there with you. But....what if there was a way to be more involved with your child, get more connected to their school, and contribute to a “we’re all in this together” environment in your school community?

That’s exactly what I'm proposing. If we can get every VPE parent to commit just two hours to helping out this school year, together we can do amazing things for our kids and our school.

If you’re wondering how you can possibly make a difference in two hours, just leave the scheduling part to us, we have a plan. There are some parents who have the bandwidth and interest to spend many hours volunteering, and we’re grateful for those who can do that. But if you can commit to only 2 Hours for the entire school year, you will help makes a huge difference for schools, and throughout the year we’ll have lots of ways to pitch in for short spurts.

We’re happy to help you get involved in any way that works for your schedule and interests. What would you like to do? When would you like to do it? We’ll gladly work with you to find a way that you can help!

We value your time and promise that there’s no obligation beyond this commitment. If you’d like to do more, that’s wonderful! But it won’t be expected of you.

Participating is easy. Simply fill out the yellow volunteer form/interest survey that was placed in the welcome folder at the beginning of the year and return them to school with your child. Can't find the volunteer form? Just send me an e-mail or look for a downloadable version (coming soon) on any of VPE's news and information outlets page and you can submit digitally. We’ll then be in touch with opportunities that fit your interests and availability. You can expect information coming your way after September 1st.

A BIG THANK YOU to ALL the businesses, friends, and families who contributed towards our goal this year!! Our goal was $80,000 and we last hit $76,348! WOW... just incredible!!

There will be awards given to the Top 10 individual students, as well as 1 classroom from each grade, who were able to raise the most fundraising dollars. The kids will get to enjoy prizes ranging from a Popcorn party, Popsicle party, Donut party to the TOP 10 fundraisers earning a Kids Limo ride with an ice cream treat!! Such FUN for the kids!

We can't THANK YOU enough for your support! This will go towards enhancing the experience for our students, staff, and families! This cannot be done without our local businesses supporting their local FCPS.

We need families to sign up for the PTA! As of now we currently have 272 members signed up, and we are so thankful for the support! We would love to have one parent/grandparent/guardian to represent EVERY student in our school! If you have more than one child attending VPE, sign up another parent, a grandparent, a friend! There is absolutely no commitment to volunteer or attend meetings, although we would LOVE that, too! We need your support for our children so we can make upgrades for the school, purchase new things and support our students and staff how ever they need. The cost is only $5 per signee, and it is simple with this QR code. We look forward to your support of our amazing school!

With your help, the PTA does many great things for the teachers, students, and school. We are involved in supporting in-school performances, back-to-school supplies, playground balls, etc!
