PK Blues News
October 2024
ADMIN MESSAGE
The first month of school has been an incredible start to the 2024-25 year at Paul Kane. Thank you so much for your support and patience over the past month as we eased into the new school year. Once again, it was wonderful to host our Parent Summit which focused on building independence in our youth. Thank you to the parents that joined us! We also opened the doors for our meet the staff evening, and a back to school BBQ for our PK Blues! Our football, volleyball, cross country, flag football, swim and golf teams are thriving! Clubs day was also successful in promoting connection at PK. We would like you to encourage your child to check out the different clubs and activities that run everyday at our school throughout the year. This is a great way to get involved, meet new friends, to have an opportunity to try something new and experience our Blues school spirit!
On Friday , we recognized the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation with daily reflections and activities. Students and staff participated in our full school Walk of Healing today. We encourage all Paul Kane families to continue to LISTEN, LEARN, REFLECT, and RECONCILE.
Your Paul Kane Administration
Erin Steele, Colleen Anderson, Catherine Lajoie and Kris Horb
BLUES BLOCK
One hour each Wednesday afternoon of instructional support to our students from 12:55-1:55 pm. Blues Block will provide all students opportunities to receive additional help and guidance in all subjects. Whether a student is struggling with math, science, languages, or any other subject, they can turn to the Blues Block for assistance. This dedicated time will provide students seeking extra support, enhancing their learning strategies, and tackling challenging concepts with their teachers. Students will also use this time to catch up on assignments and to write missed exams.
As this is instructional time, all students in the building will be directed to a learning space. They WILL NOT be able to hang around in the Central Gathering Area. If they are waiting for rides they need to be in a class or picked up by 1:00pm!!! To help facilitate increased attendance the buses will be departing after Blues Block at 2:00 pm. If you have any questions about the support available, please contact your child’s individual teacher for each course. Lastly, as it is instructional time they are not to be on their cell phones as per the Ministerial Order.
Please encourage your child to take advantage of all that Blues Block has to offer.
