Message from Mrs. Phelan
Dear Families,
Happy July 1st! I hope you are enjoying your summer so far. In this newsletter, we will be recapping the last week of school.
Mr. Kraus will be returning to Chile to take on a new role as the head of a primary school, while Tara Rufo has joined us as Lowell's new assistant principal, starting today. Please note that the school is open from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm daily. If you require assistance, kindly reach out via email, as we currently do not have door monitors or office staff available during the summer months.
Many of you are eager to know about class placements. I'm pleased to inform you that class assignments for all grades PreK-5 have been finalized. Parents will receive their child's placement letter electronically on August 1st. Please be advised that we are unable to accommodate any changes to class placements now that the data has been submitted.
We have recently welcomed several new educators to our faculty and staff after a hiring spree. A detailed publication introducing these new members will be shared with you in late July.
For any assistance required during the summer, please feel free to contact me via email at Stacy.phelan@watertown.k12.ma.us or by phone, Monday through Thursday, from 8 am to 3 pm at 617-926-7770.
With gratitude,
If you are planning to move out of Watertown or the Lowell School District, please complete this form as soon as possible. This information helps us to accurately plan for the fall.
5th Grade Move Up Ceremony
The 5th-grade move-up ceremony was a heartwarming celebration as our Lowell community gathered to honor the achievements of our fifth graders. We are incredibly proud of each student and their growth over the years. As they step into middle school, we wish them the best of luck, knowing they will continue to shine and make us proud. The entire Lowell community is behind you, cheering you on as you embark on this exciting new chapter!
End of Year Community Celebration
At our end-of-year celebration at the Lowell School, we gathered to honor the outstanding achievements of our ML students, celebrating their hard work and success. We also took a moment to congratulate all students who were recognized for embodying our core values, which are a testament to their character and dedication. It was a bittersweet farewell as we said goodbye to Nurse Taverna, Ms. Doolin, and Ms. Curtin, whose contributions will be deeply missed. Additionally, we expressed our gratitude to Mr. Kraus for his dedicated service as an AP throughout the year. It was a day filled with reflection, appreciation, and the promise of new beginnings.
Lowell's Got Talent
Students had a blast at our talent show, "Lowell's Got Talent." They showcased exceptional skills in gymnastics, comedy, and music presentations. The audience demonstrated all the school's core values and enjoyed watching their older buddies perform. Well done, and congratulations to all the participants!
3rd Grade Field Trip to the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum
Golden Leopard
We are amazed at how many students have been spotted! We are so proud to see children in the school working hard to demonstrate their commitment to our core values.
The Golden Leopard reward was created to celebrate our students. If a student earns a leopard spot for each core value in one week, they will receive the Golden Leopard reward.
They will receive a special certificate; their names will be announced during the morning messages and appear in the family newsletter.
During this week, we had five students that earned the Golden Leopard. Please congratulate Levi Voit, Abner Abraham Garcia Coto, Silas Wood, Cooper Ross, and Daniel Ramirez Chavez!
