Welcome to the 24-25 School Year
July 31st Meet the Teacher
Open House & Schedule Pick up 2 PM - 6 PM on July 31st
Please stop by with your student to meet their new teacher and pick up their schedule. It is important to look over their schedule quickly as the window for changes will be short. Thank you.
6th through 8th grade schedule changes will only be made through Friday August 9th. Please send an email to me or the counselor or have your child get on the list if they want a schedule change.
School Starts August 1st, please be there!
Please be on time!
We are focusing on helping students be ready for high school and beyond. It is important to get them here by 8:45 AM every day. Any appointments that can be scheduled outside of the school day are appreciated.
Kindergarten through 5th grade is from 8:45 AM to 2:50 PM.
Only students who take the bus should remain on campus until 3:50 PM. Please pick up your children on time each day as we do not offer extended care.
Caregivers of young children may eat breakfast or be on the playground prior to the first bell, however, they are expected to leave the premises with the first bell at 8:46 AM. At no time should anyone be in the building beyond the cafeteria.
6th-8th grade is from 8:45 AM to 3:50 PM.
All students get out one hour earlier on Wednesday.

Meet the Principal
Ms. Liane Donovan
I am very happy to be starting my third year as the principal of Booth-Fickett K8. I continue to dream big as we find our way back to the top of the schools in TUSD. We know this will take time. I am fortunate to work with some of the finest educators in the area.
Prior to Booth Fickett I was an administrator and a teacher in Oregon. I was a high school administrator and taught special education and mathematics. My career began in Tucson, and I am happy to return to the desert.
My spare time is spent with my husband, a retired administrator, and my two adult children. One lives in Tucson, the other in Portland. We also enjoy eating out, seeing musicals, and playing with our Pekingese dogs. My favorite color is red, and my favorite snack is milk chocolate! I am a true Dutch Brothers fan, as that chain is out of Oregon.
I have a passion for education and will always try to do the right thing for each child. To me this means, holding the bar high on what children can achieve and staying consistent in discipline. Should you ever need to speak with me, I usually ask that you speak first with the person of concern and contact me second. Email or a call for an appointment to the office works best.
Thank you for putting your trust in TUSD and Booth Fickett K8. We would love to have you get involved with our Parent Teacher Organization, so please consider this a personal invitation. More information is coming on this soon!
Items of Interest
1. Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders have an opportunity to participate in a reading program this year to bring them along further. We will be asking for your permission for them to be part of the program as it is part of a research study being done nationwide. I was personally trained on this and am very excited about the possibility!
2. All K-5 scholars' will get a different type of math support this year. We will be using a true back to basics model to ensure that students understand the concepts, and not just the algorithms. This will happen for all of our K-5 students each day from 10:30 - 11:15. If you know a local retiree that might like to help with our program, let them know. They would need to be approved volunteers.
3. Coming up on September 6th (Friday Night) we are having a family night at the school with a movie/game night for all families. We will offer dinner for sale through PTO. Students are only allowed to come with their family.
4. We look forward to having you all at school this year to help support each of our children. Watch for Dates on the Ruby Bridges Walk and other exciting events.
