Research shows that students who don’t read over the summer can lose up to two months of reading progress—a phenomenon often called the “summer slide.” The good news? Just 20 minutes of reading a day can help prevent this loss and even strengthen your child’s literacy skills. Whether it’s books, magazines, or audiobooks, keeping reading part of your child’s summer routine sets them up for success in the fall.
