Principal's Corner
Hello Godwin Heights Middle School Families,
This week has been full of highlights! Our students embraced Red Ribbon Week with enthusiastic participation, showing their commitment to making healthy choices. It was great to see our school spirit in action!
In the classrooms, there's a lot of meaningful learning happening each day. Teachers and students are working hard together, and it's wonderful to see the progress and dedication from both sides.
We also kicked off our first season of winter sports, with our athletes hitting the courts. We look forward to cheering on our teams and watching their skills grow throughout the season.
Additionally, our student focus group met this week to discuss ways we can continue improving Godwin Heights Middle School. Their insights and ideas are invaluable in making our school a welcoming and positive environment for everyone.
Thank you, as always, for your partnership in learning. Your support helps make our school a place where students can thrive!

Shout Out to Marching Band!
The Godwin Heights Marching Band competed Saturday, October 26th in the preliminary competition to qualify for the State Finals—and they made it! They ranked 9th place with a score of 74.45, which is a 4-point improvement! Since many of the band members are new and haven’t performed at Ford Field for state finals before, they are excited for this opportunity! Thank you for supporting the band at Godwin Heights.
Red Ribbon Week Success
The Student Council partnered with the Kent County Prevention Coalition to celebrate Red Ribbon Week, promoting drug-free living. Students who participated in the spirit week themes answered trivia about the dangers of drugs and the benefits of staying drug-free to win free merchandise. The week culminated in a movie-themed photo shoot, showcasing this year's theme: "Life is a Movie, Film It Drug-Free." Special thanks to Bareall for providing live printmaking for our students on Monday, and to MadProps for lending movie-related props.
