Weekly News Capturing the BA Way!
From Ms. Foster Arbaiza,
I'm thrilled to share that our Yondr rollout this week was a resounding success! Thanks to the hard work and coordination from our staff, we seamlessly distributed Yondr pouches to our students with minimal disruptions. Our students adapted quickly, and the positive impact on our school environment is already noticeable. A huge thank you to everyone involved for making this transition smooth and effective. Together, we're creating a more focused and engaged learning environment!

New Morning Fast Lane Entrance Starting Monday
To help speed up morning arrival, we’re opening a third entrance starting this Monday at 8:25 AM. This entrance will serve as a fast lane for students who meet the following requirements:
1. In full dress code (no belts or other metal on person)
2. ID badges on and visible
3. Phones turned off and secured in Yondr pouches
This fast lane is designed to help students enter the building more efficiently while still ensuring all school protocols are met. Please remind your child to be ready so they can take advantage of this quick entry option!
Doors will open at 8:25AM all week
PARENT PICKUP IMPORTANT INFO:
Please provide at least 30 minutes to pickup your child now that Yondr has been rolled out. Early pickups stop at 3:30PM to allow our office staff to complete their end of the day duties.
📱 Daily expectations for YONDR (taken from the BAHSLA Cell Phone Policy (BAHSLA Cell Phone Policy)
Daily Process:
- Arrival: Students must turn off their phones, place them in Yondr pouches in front of staff, and store the pouches in their backpacks.
- Throughout the Day: Phones, AirBuds, and smartwatches must remain in the Yondr pouches, with no access during the school day unless approved by an administrator.
- Dismissal: Students unlock their pouches at designated exit locations to retrieve their phones before leaving.
Violations and Consequences:
- Parent Contact via Email parents will be emailed using the email that they shared with their student during Advisory lessons. If a parent does not have an email on file, we will send an email to the one in PowerSchool.
- Unauthorized Phone Use: Repercussions range from parent pickup on the first offense to a $15 fee and Level I referral on the fourth offense, with additional consequences for repeated violations.
- Pouch Damage: Damaged pouches incur fees starting at $20 and escalate with repeated offenses, leading to Level I referrals and potential DAEP referral after multiple infractions.
Forgotten Pouches:
- If a student forgets their pouch, their phone will be collected, and parents will be notified. The student is allowed to forget their pouch twice before it is considered lost, after which further consequences apply.
Once pouches or phones have been collected, please allow the next business day for pickup. Our office staff needs ample time to collect, contact, and store the items properly. Pickup times are from 9:15AM - 4:30PM
Morning Arrival Information and Tardy Sweeps - UPDATE
Cougar Family, I sent out an email earlier this week regarding metal detector settings to enhance security and safety. This process took much longer than expected, and I apologize for the lengthy processes. We are still conducting tardy sweeps this week to ensure students arrive to class on time.
1st and 5th period tardy sweeps will occur this week.
To support the Yondr pouch implementation, the school will continue to open early for this week. This early opening will help students get through the security process and to class promptly. We will reevaluate our arrival time after the full implementation of Yondr. Your cooperation is appreciated as we work to create a safe and timely school environment.
Emergency Drills and Cohort Meetings in Advisory all Week
Severe Weather and Lockdown Drills on 9/9 in Advisory
On Monday, September 9th, during advisory, we will conduct both lockdown and severe weather drills. These drills are a critical part of our safety procedures, designed to ensure that all students and staff know exactly what to do in the event of an emergency. The "I Love You Guys" Foundation provides the foundation for these protocols, which focus on simple, clear actions that can help save lives. Participation is crucial to make sure we’re all prepared to respond quickly and effectively, keeping everyone safe. Thank you for taking these drills seriously!

BA Dress Code - Going Strong!
Our students have been doing an excellent job following the dress code—thank you for your cooperation and commitment! As we continue to focus on maintaining our standards, please note that we will not participate in dress-up days for Attendance Awareness Week. However, get ready for some fun in two weeks when we celebrate Homecoming with special dress-up days. Let’s keep up the great work and continue to show pride in our school community!
The BA Uniform is described as the following:
BA Polo w/ Crest
Black or Khaki Bottoms
Closed-Toe Shoes
Current ID Badge
Yondr Pouch (regardless of cell phone status)
At BA we are proud of our uniform and the image that our students portray when they walk through the doors every day. When students are dressed as leaders, their mindset is elevated.
Additionally, this is a safety piece. The uniform and ID badge prove to us that they are BA students, and that they belong on our campus.
ID Badge Updates for 24 - 25
ID Must be worn at all times and are REQUIRED AT District Events
As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment, all students are required to wear their school IDs at all times while on campus. This policy helps us ensure the safety and security of all students, staff, and visitors.
ALL STUDENTS HAVE BEEN ISSUED AN ID BADGE.
High School students will be required to have their school issued student ID to enter an athletic event for which their high school is competing in.
Beginning with the 2024-2025 athletic season, high school students attending an athletic event without a parent, guardian, or other adult responsible for the student, must have a school issued student ID, the student ID must be for the high school that is competing in that event.
Students may request a new picture and purchase an additional badge for a $5 fee.
**If a student did not complete their sophomore Defense or does not have the required grade level credits, their ID will will reflect their previous grade level. Students must complete their Defense and/or recuperate their credits to receive a new badge.
Starting September 3rd, all students without an ID badge will be subject to a dress code violation.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
