Brrrr! It's hat and gloves time!
From the Principal's Desk:
Brrr! It's that time of year again! Grey November skies remind us that snow is coming, and the temperatures have turned for sure! At school, that means nice comfortable temperatures inside, but it can mean cold temperatures at recess outside! That being the case, it's time to start sending hats and gloves to school.
Soon, once the snow flies, your students will hear a lot about the expectation to have our "High Five" (hat, coat, gloves, snow pants, and boots). We aren't there yet because we don't have snow, but for now students should definitely bring a coat, hat, and gloves!
While we do have some "borrow clothes", we do not have unlimited supply, and sometimes there can be a lot of students looking to borrow. The more students have the items they need already, the easier it is to help students who need to borrow something because they forgot their own at home. If your family could use some help getting outerwear, please let us know! We can definitely help.
As you keep reading, look for another sign of snow coming: a visit from our very own VTrans plow truck!
All the best- stay warm!
Bjarki

FOSCS Dinner/ Movie Night/ Book Give-away was a great success!
Thanks to FOSCS, our awesome foodservice folks Kathleen and Steven Marinelli, and SCS custodian Pete Maloy for putting on a great Pasta Dinner and Movie Night! And thanks as well to SCS Librarian Megan Sutton and the Children's Literacy Foundation for the book give away! Megan was very intentional in making sure that any student who wasn't at movie night got a book on Monday morning. We tried to connect all three events by eating spaghetti and meatballs and watching "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs", a 2009 movie based on the book authored by Judi Barrett and illustrated by Ron Barrett.
SCS Named a Plow, and Got a Visit!
As part of the Vermont Agency of Transportation "Name a Plow" program, schools get to name a plow in their area! The name is put on the side, along with the name of the school. Our overwhelming winner was "Snowy Potter". Snowy potter primarily works on Rt. 30, but does some work in Salisbury as well.
Thank you VTrans and "Snowy Potter" driver Jamie Vincent!
4th Grade doing awesome things!
Huge credit to Amy Clapp and parent volunteers for facilitating some excellent experiences for our students! On the 5th the 4th grade went to Montpelier and visited the Vermont State House. They also had a surprise visit to the State Supreme Court! Following that, a presented came from Ft. Ticonderoga to share details of 'A Soldier's Life". Quite a cool couple of weeks digging into our Green Mountain State!

Fun Feature! Time-Lapse Picture Project.
New for 24-25: The Time-Lapse Picture Project
This year, we thought it would be fun to chronicle the changes of the season at Salisbury Community School by taking the same picture, at the same time, from the same spot, every week. At the end of the year it will hopefully be a fun thing to look at and share!
