Greetings Community!
Hello September!!!
Greetings Dragon Community,
September is here, and we are thrilled to share the fantastic accomplishments our campus achieved in August! We are proud to announce our district-projected campus rating of a B for the 2023-2024 school year. Additionally, we are beaming with pride over our Diamond Designation for Family and Community Engagement! Our Dragons are truly shining bright through brilliance this year!
As we dive into September, our focus intensifies on delivering high-quality instruction and providing intensive coaching for our staff. This ensures we maximize our time and engage all Dragons in effective and fun learning experiences.
The Beginning of Year data has given us a great baseline on where our students are and how we need to pivot our instruction to meet their needs. This includes classroom activities, tutorials, and interventions. Ms. Sarreal will begin sending out letters this week for Fall tutorials and Accelerated Learning options. We will start with the upper grade levels and then transition to the lower grades for additional afterschool support opportunities.
We are also excited to welcome grandparents next week for Daily’s Grandparents Luncheon and our upcoming Open House! We cannot wait to show you the incredible work your Dragons have been doing in the first month of school.
As always, if you need anything please email us at DailyES@houstonisd.org and join us on Class Dojo for Realtime posts and updates.
Warm regards,
Principal Khaliq

Tardy Information
Tardy Information!
Tardies Impact Instruction:
Help us Ensure that our Students Don’t Miss
Valuable Learning Time!
Being on time is a habit and lifelong skill we want to instill in all our students. It is crucial for starting the school day off right, as it lays the foundation for a productive learning day!
While we understand that occasional circumstances may cause students to be tardy, it's crucial that these instances remain exceptions rather than the norm. Minimizing tardies helps students start their day with their peers and ensures they don’t miss valuable instructional time. Let's work together to prioritize a timely arrival for our students.
Mrs. Corpus's Counselor Corner!
Open House!!!
Open House is an opportunity for parents to meet teachers, learn about classroom activities, and understand how they can best support their child’s educational journey at home. Teachers will also provide information to parents about the academic environment, curriculum, and expectations for the school year.

2024 - 2025 School Uniforms!
2024 - 2025 Carpool Plan!
Carpool Update for Ray K Daily Elementary VERSION 2.0
As we all know, carpool continues to be a challenge due to traffic from Briar Forest and the dismissal of over 840 students at Daily. We have listened to feedback from staff and the community and have made some changes to improve the process:
- Preassigned Carpool Numbers and Tags: All students will receive a preassigned carpool number and tag.
- Pickup Locations:
- Lower Grades and Siblings: Students in lower grades (K-1) and those with older siblings will be picked up from the kinder playground area.
- 2nd - 5th Grade Students: These students will be picked up from the Pavilion.
- Traffic Flow: Each lane is designated for specific areas to maximize traffic flow.
- Arrival Time: We ask parents not to begin lining up until 2 PM. Gates will be closed for campus and student safety.
We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we implement these changes to ensure a smoother and safer carpool experience for everyone. Thank you! 🚗🏫✨

Attendance Policy New Years Resolution!
Attendance Policy
Last year, we lost over $200,000 in campus funding due to absences. High-quality instruction, student achievement, and good attendance are all closely connected, and we need your help to ensure all students come to school regularly.
We understand that children do get sick from time to time, which is completely understandable. However, we ask you to invest in your child’s learning by prioritizing their attendance at school. Every day counts, and your support is crucial in helping us provide the best education possible for all our students.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to your child’s education. Together, we can make this year a success! 📚🏫✨
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) requires elementary schools to average 98% for daily attendance of ALL enrolled students.
Texas Education Code section 25.092 requires that a student in grades kindergarten through grade 12 be in attendance for at least 90 percent of the days a class is offered in order to receive credit for the class or a final grade.
Early Pick up or Late Drop Off's
Students who need to leave school for an appointment must be checked out through the office. Parents should plan to pick students up before 2:00 p.m. or plan to wait for them to be dismissed at 3:00 p.m. Students will not be called after 2:00 p.m. This plan is in place for the safety of all students. Parents may not pick up their child from the bus/daycare area. Parents must check out their child from the office.
Note: Excessive early pick ups will effect grades and learning for your little one. We encourage you to plan around school hours. Please reach out to your teachers for any makeup assignments that can be done at home. In the event we notice an excess of early pick up we will request a conference to schedule to discuss the concerns of learning loss.
Cell Phones
Important Information About Student Cell-Phone Use
Before you choose to invest in purchasing a phone for your child, please read the following:
As per current policy, student cell-phone use will not be allowed in HISD schools during the academic day. Student use of phones during the academic day disrupts learning and instruction, fuels disputes between students, and undermines the culture we are working to create in all HISD campuses.
Cell-Phone Policy Details:
- Storage: Students must leave their cell phones at home or in their backpacks.
- Visibility: If a teacher or administrator sees a cell phone on a student’s person (even if it is in a pocket but visible) or being used by a student, the following steps will be taken:
- The student will be asked to hand over the mobile phone.
- The student’s name will be put on the phone (e.g., with a sticky note).
- The phone will be taken to the office or given to a learning coach or teacher apprentice to take to the office.
Consequences for Violations:
- First Violation: The parent may pick up the cell phone or smart watch from the front office after school. A contract will be signed by the parent, and a copy of the cellphone policy will be provided.
- Second Violation: The cell phone will be returned to a parent or guardian who must come to the school to retrieve it and pay a $15 administrative fee.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a focused and productive learning environment for all students. Thank you! 📱🚫🏫
