DATA CONFIRMATION is part of the annual registration process. Prior to REGISTRATION DAY (Aug 15th), all families need to complete DATA CONFIRMATION through PARENT PORTAL (use your parent log-in, NOT student log-in). Process is complete when you confirm the final step "Final Data Confirmation"

On Thursday, August 10th @ 4:00pm, Nohl Canyon is inviting ALL NEW FAMILIES to an orientation! The orientation will provide you an opportunity to visit NC campus, meet Mr. Jones and our NCSA Executive Board, and learn important details regarding NC.

Thank you to NCSA for collecting donated uniforms at the end of the school year. All items; Shirts, shorts, pants, will be for sale for ONLY $3 on the following dates:

• New Family Orientation, 4pm - 5:30pm
• Friday, August 11th: 11:30 - 1

Nohl Canyon will host a Registration Day on Tuesday, August 16th. Registration Day allows families to turn in important Data Confirmation paperwork, drop off Emergency packs, purchase school uniforms and spirit ware, learn who your childs teacher is AND complete SCHOOL PICTURE DAY!!

MODIFIED WEDNESDAY SCHEDULE:

TK / Kindergarten: 8:15 - 12:10

1st - 3rd: 8:10 - 12:20

4th - 6th: 8:00 - 12:30

Nohl Canyon uses a "Staggered" Start and dismissal to provide some relief with traffic. Supervision in front of school begins at 7:40 am. After dismissal, supervision ends at 2:40 pm. All students need to be picked up by 2:40 pm.

In the 2022-2023 school year, we are pleased to announce that 25 students earned PERFECT ATTENDANCE and Nohl Canyon had an overall 95% attendance rate!

UNIFORM POLICY:

Tops – Nohl Canyon Uniform shirts are to be worn each day. NC Spirit shirts are allowed throughout the week, along with scheduled themed days (Wednesday = College day). Nohl Canyon allows Free Dress on the final Friday of each month.

Bottoms – Uniform bottoms are to be any type (jeans and leggings included) of solid bottoms with no holes, stripes, or patterns. Colors are Black, Blue, Khaki, uniform plaid.

*Sweatpants not allowed

If your child will need medication at school during the 2023-2024 school year, please have your health care provider fill out the following form. Bring the completed form and medication to the health office before the beginning of the next school year in August, 2023.

Nohl Canyon is excited to announce our new Head Custodian, Mr. Jesus. Mr. Jesus comes to us from Imperial Elementary, where he served as the night custodian. Mr. Jesus is an alumni of Taft Elementary, Cerro Villa Middle School, and Villa Park High School!

Mr. Jesus is excited to be part of the Roadrunner family and looks forward to meeting and supporting Nohl Canyon students, families, and staff!

Dad's Club had a successful Campus Beautification on Saturday! They were able to put a fresh coat of paint on the entry Gates and Nohl Canyon sign, beautify the TK/Kindergarten garden, and replace worn out backpack racks.

Welcome to our first edition of the Nohl Canyon Roadrunner Newsletter for the 2023-2024 school year. Each Sunday evening, a new edition will be published. Please refer to the newsletter for important information relating to Nohl Canyon, OUSD and NCSA. The newsletter can also be found on our Nohl Canyon Webpage . I welcome back our returning Roadrunners and cannot wait to meet our new families!

Bio on Mr. Jones:

Mr. Jeffrey Jones is excited to begin his 5th year at Nohl Canyon Elementary School. He is entering his 25th year as an educator and 19th year with Orange Unified School District. He looks forward to continuing to build collaborative partnerships with staff, students and parents to provide innovative learning experiences for all students!

Mr. Jones previously served Orange Unified School District as an Assistant Principal at Villa Park High School (2014-2019). Prior to his administration position, Mr. Jones taught Physical Education at Cerro Villa Middle School (2005-2014) and J.H. Hull Middle School (1999-2004) in the Torrance Unified School District. Mr. Jones earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration in 2012 from Concordia University. He completed his Kinesiology and Physical Education degree along with his teaching credential from California State University, Long Beach (1999).

Mr. Jones’ passion is to create an environment where students, staff and parents feel welcomed and safe on a daily basis. He strives for all students to feel engaged in their learning environment. Nohl Canyon is that place and Mr. Jones is humbled to be part of a wonderful community.
