Madonna Catholic School News
January 17, 2025
Dear Madonna Catholic School Community,
We are excited to share some of the wonderful learning experiences happening in our school community this past week! Through a special partnership with Code Ninjas, our students enjoyed hands-on, introductory coding sessions that sparked creativity and built foundational programming skills. Today, we gathered for a beautiful Adoration Mass with Fr. Chad, celebrating our faith and experiencing the sacred gift of Adoration in the chapel, one class at a time.
These are just a few examples of the incredible opportunities we offer, where students grow in mind, body, and spirit.
We warmly invite you to share the good news about our school with friends and family! Join us for our upcoming Information Night on January 23 at 6:00pm to learn more about the enriching programs and vibrant community that make Madonna Catholic School & Cogito Academy a great place to learn and thrive.
If you are not a part of our Facebook page consider following us to see some of the great things happening at Madonna! Facebook
Thank you for your continued support in shaping our students’ journey of faith and learning.

**IMPORTANCE NOTICE**
Dear Madonna School Parents,
We want to thank you all for your continued partnership in keeping our school community safe.
We want to bring to your attention a critical safety issue regarding student drop-offs in the Madonna School staff parking lot. Unfortunately, over the past few weeks, including the period before Christmas break, we have had several close calls that put student safety at serious risk.
We have observed instances where students are being dropped off without an adult escort into the parking lot. Because of their smaller size, these young children are often not visible to other drivers who need to access essential parking spots, including staff and Boys & Girls Club parents. This creates a dangerous situation, and we are deeply concerned about the possibility of a child being injured. Additionally, staff members have reported difficulty parking in their designated stalls due to parents idling in their vehicles while waiting for the first bell.
To ensure the safety of all students and streamline morning drop-offs, we ask that you please consider the following options:
Use the designated drop-off zone on Malvern Drive: This area is supervised by a school staff member before and after school to help ensure a safe transition for your child.
Utilize the business parking lot across from the traffic circle: You can park here and walk your child to school property.
Use the street across from the school and have your children use the crosswalk to cross the street.
We will continue to put signage in the parking lot to close off the flow of traffic with the exception of the handicapped parking stall.
We appreciate all your assistance to ensure the safety of all our staff and students.

Recess Club
This past week a new club began at noon hour recess called, Recess Club. It is an intiiatve spearheaded by some grade four students who are actively encouraging game play at recess time for all. These students have planned games until March break, have done some training for how to support young students with Emma our Youth Worker. They also take turns writing and reading the morning announcement each week. The Recess Club leaders can be seen on the playground in their bright blue vests. Each Wednesday and Friday they will have two different games to offer students in grades K-3 who wish to join. Continue to listen to the announcements in the morning so you will know what to expect! Come join in the fun!
