JPC WEEKLY NEWS 10-9-24
POINTS FROM THE PRINCIPAL
- Week of Respect: New Jersey has designated this week as the "Week of Respect." It is observed annually, thought recently it seems that much more important to emphasize. Our learning community will focus on identifying what respect looks like, sounds like, feels like; through classroom lessons, literature, and shouts outs/compliments. Please know at the Primary Centers, we are always talking about respect.
- Single Session Day next Monday, October 14th
- Please reference school hour document on the right
- Kindergarten Classrooms: 8:30-12:00pm
- Mrs. Amiel and Ms. Ciccarelli's Classes: 8:30-12:30pm
- We need your help during morning arrival: If you are walking your child(ren) to the cafeteria door, once they are inside, please leave the area. We have a large number of people hanging around and it is making it more difficult for the kids to transition as well as safely supervise. We also have family members going up to the cafeteria windows and watching....this is also a safety concern. Pleas be sure to keep moving. We appreciate it!
- Planning Ahead:
- School Photographs: October 28th
- Wear Red Day: October 29th
- Please be sure to join the PTO. Our PTO works really hard to support the learning community.
- Handbook: Be sure to review the handbook as it contains all information that you will need for the school year. Important information such as the arrival and dismissal procedures are included (in addition to have been emailed to you on August 26th). The link is at the bottom of the page.

COUNSELOR'S CORNER
Dear JPC Families,
This past Friday, we introduced our VIP lunch program to our students and teachers. Classroom teachers will be asked to select two students each month who consistently show kindness, respect and follow school rules.
When students are nominated, they receive a letter to bring home to their families and an invitation to the special lunch with the date of when the VIP lunch will take place. At the end of the lunch, students will be awarded their certificates to bring home and will have their picture taken. If photo consent has been given, the photo will be shared in our weekly newsletter the following week. All photos for the month will be shared on our bulletin board outside of the office.
All students have the opportunity to be selected for this special recognition each month by making good choices in the classroom, cafeteria and out at recess.
We are very excited to begin our VIP lunches in October!

AROUND THE CLASSROOMS
- A message from Mr. Smith, Physical Education: As we dive into our physical education classes, I wanted to send a quick reminder to ensure your child is prepared for an active and fun experience!
On P.E. days, please make sure your child wears comfortable clothing and sneakers. This will help them move freely and safely during activities. Please avoid crocs, sandals, and flip-flops, as they lack proper traction and support, increasing the risk of injury. Additionally, please avoid dresses and skirts as they may restrict movement. Thank you for your support, and I look forward to a great year of learning and movement!
Mrs. Meadows, Art & Music: In Kindergarten Art & Music, students are exploring primary and secondary colors. They will be mixing colors to paint a variety of apples. We are listening to music together and thinking about how a fast or slow tempo makes us feel. Ask your child about the different ways we can use our voices
FREQUENT FLYERS
PTO PLACE
A note from the PTO – thank you to all who have generously provided funds! However, only 24% of families have contributed. The PTO funds many programs for the students and teachers that are both fun and educational. Without additional contributions we will have no choice but to scale back. Please consider donating today – no amount is too big or too small!
Here are a few examples on what the PTO provides to students throughout the year:
- Bubble Man Assembly
- Art in the Classroom
- Multi Cultural Night
- Scholastic Magazine
- Movie Night
- Graduation T-Shirts
- Teacher Appreciation Breakfast
We are in need of volunteers. This is a great way to get involved with the community and our kindergarteners! Please reach out or sign up below! We are specifically looking for help with our Glow Run (this will be JPC’s first year participating!) as well as Multi Cultural Night. We need your help!
