MHS Band Students Take Home Top Honors
Check out the wonderful results from our band students auditioning for the East Tennessee School Band & Orchestra Association's All-State East Senior Clinic and Jazz Clinic.
It's inspiring to witness our incredible students consistently showcase exceptional musicianship, demonstrating their hard work, dedication, and passion for music. Their talent and commitment to honing their skills not only enrich our community and represent our school well but also set a high standard for excellence in the arts. We are extremely proud of all of our band students who took the time to prepare and audition for these prestigious music events.

VISUAL ARTS
MJHS Art Student Chosen Unanimously
Congratulations to Ella McNulty, 9th grader, for being the unanimous winner of the 2025 Martin Luther King Celebration Art/Design Contest! Ella's winning entry was a mixed media portrait of a young Dr. King gazing upward against a background of words and phrases from his writing and speeches. The image is thoughtful, inspiring, and beautifully rendered, and was featured in the 2025 MLK Celebration Program and on display during all of the Celebration events, including the event at the Clayton Center for the Arts on Monday, January 20th.
Unleashed Potential - An Exhibition of Special Artists
We’re excited to invite you to "Unleashed Potential An Exhibition of Special Artists", an art show designed to celebrate the artistic abilities of students with disabilities in Maryville City Schools. Here are the key details:
Event Details:
- Date: April 17, 2025
- Time: 5:30-7:30 pm
Location: Maryville High School Main Gym
Who can participate in this art exhibition?
The district-wide art show is designed for ALL students (grades K-Transition) who are receiving services in special education and want to showcase their creative skills through art.
Can any piece of art be submitted?
Yes, any type of art can be submitted.
Common categories for shows include:
• Drawing
• Painting
• Mixed Media
• Sculpture
• Printmaking
• Photography
For example, elementary school pottery pieces would be accepted.
How do I get my students’ artwork into the show?
Please send all artwork to Brenna Perkins either via pony or through drop-off at the main office of the high school. If the item requires specialized pick-up, please contact brenna.perkins@maryville-schools.org to make arrangements. Submission forms to submit along with artwork will be sent via email to each school in early February. If you need one sent to your personal email to fill out and print with your student’s artwork, please email Brenna Perkins.
What will the event be like?
Families can drop in anytime between 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM. All art will be showcased on panels or displayed within the main gym of the high school. The awards ceremony will take place at 7:00 PM. Students are eligible to submit their work for the competition even if they cannot attend after hours. If they are unable to attend or need to leave before the awards, the award will be sent to their school for delivery.
Will there be food?
Yes, we are planning to collaborate with our culinary program to provide light snacks for the event.
Is this event just for students? Can students be dropped off?
This is a family and community-focused event! Our goal is for families to celebrate their students and others in the community. Students should not be dropped off on their own; they should attend with a parent, guardian, or family member to ensure proper safety and supervision during the event.
Will each applicant get their art back after the exhibition?
We are exploring the possibility of having community partners display some of the artwork in their businesses for a few weeks. If selected, students and families will be informed through their schools. Afterward, all artwork will be returned to each school, and students will receive their work back.
