Metzler Husky Happenings
December 2024
Message From The Principal
5I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break and found time to spend with family and friends. It is hard to believe that December is here, and Winter Break is around the corner.
Now that December is here, cooler weather is as well. Please be sure that your children come to school prepared to go outside for recess by ensuring they are dressed appropriately for the weather. Our lost and found is growing, please ensure your child's first and last names are written inside their coats/jackets to ensure lost items can be returned to the owner.
With all of December’s anticipation, it is more important than ever to keep your child focused on school. I encourage you to continue speaking with your child about what they are learning in school, review your child’s assignments, and remind children to always follow our Effective Learner Traits.
We are very excited about all of our upcoming events and amazing memories our campus will be creating over the next couple of weeks.
Below is a list of each event we will have leading up to winter break. Please note that some are moments we will be creating just for our students. There is also information about our winter dress up days which begin on December 16th.
I would like to wish everyone a joyous holiday season. Enjoy your time together as a family, reflect on the triumphs of the past year, and set goals for 2025.
Take care and be well,
Danis Boone, Principal
Metzler Elementary

Holiday Party Information
We are excited about our holiday parties which are scheduled for December 20th in the cafeteria. PTO will have game/activity stations set up in the cafeteria for students to rotate through during their grade level scheduled party time. We have just under 900 students, which means we have anywhere from 125-155 students per grade level. The cafeteria can get crowded and hot with this number of students and parents in there at one time. The holiday party is a time for students to come together with their friends and have some fun before they leave for winter break. If the cafeteria becomes too crowded it can take away from the students enjoying this fun time with friends. If you would like to attend the holiday party, please consider volunteering to help run a station. PTO will be sending out a sign-up genius so parents can volunteer to help. (All volunteers must have a completed and approved background check). Only parents/guardians will be allowed to attend due to space. Please complete the attached RSVP and return it to the school no later than, Monday, December 16th.
Teachers have lots of fun activities planned for this day, please consider allowing your child to remain at school all day, early dismissals are not excused. If your child must have an early dismissal please indicate that on the RSVP. Early dismissals not indicated on the RSVP will be delayed due to getting parents checked in for the next scheduled grade level party.
***Due to holiday parties taking place in the cafeteria we will not be able to have lunch visitors on December 20th.
Thank you for understanding.
