Updates From The Principal
Hello NRMS Families,
We have enjoyed a fun, spirit week at the middle school.
Please be sure to review the information we shared about Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences. You can follow the link below to the instructions on how to sign up. We strongly encourage students to be present at the conferences. Additionally, we hope that most parents/guardians will sign up for some conferences. Please note that while we designate these October dates for conferences, throughout the year we encourage open lines of communication between home and school. Please reach out to teachers or guidance counselors if you need additional information, a status check, or to schedule a meeting with a teacher or team of teachers.
School picture days are next week. You can review the information that we have shared separately and it is included above.
Picture Days by Grade Level:
Grade 6 - Oct. 22nd
Grade 7 - Oct. 23rd
Grade 8 - Oct. 24
We have just three weeks remaining in the first quarter. Now is the perfect time for students to review their current grades in Aspen and work with teachers to complete any missing assignments or projects. We are striving to eliminate course failures and the best way to do this to stay on top of assignments so that students do not fall behind or get overwhelmed by having to complete both missed work and current assignments at the same time. Since the start of October, the number of students failing one or more courses has been cut in half. And, we still have work to do to reduce that number even further. As a parent/guardian, you can assist by reviewing grades in Aspen, using the week-at-a-glance documents linked below to assist your child with staying on top of the work, providing a quiet, distraction-free place for homework completion, and simply by having regular conversations about school. Together we can shift the ownership of their own learning onto our students as we work to ensure students have the scaffolding and support they need to succeed both at school and at home.
Have a great weekend. The weather looks like it will be amazing for Oysterfest and all of the other fun fall happenings around the Cape.

Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences
The upcoming Teacher Conferences are scheduled for the following dates:
Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 3:30pm - 7:00pm
Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 12:30pm - 3:30pm
The sign-up instructions are below. Please review the directions carefully in order to complete the process successfully. The conference preference, In-Person or Virtual, can be selected when you sign-up.
Due to the limited number of conference timeslots, please choose ONLY 2 Team Teachers between October 15 and October 27. This is to ensure time slots are available for all parents and guardians. After October 27th, you may fill-in open time slots with the other team teachers, if they are available. We also encourage you to schedule a time to meet with your child's World Language (French and Spanish) and Exploratory Teachers (Technology; Art; Music; P.E.; Health; Greenhouse; Adventure Ed; Library/Media; Boost). In addition, we recommend that your student join the conference with you and the teacher.
Please CLICK HERE for full conference sign-up directions.
Mark your calendars! Don’t miss our Scholastic Book Fair! The book fair is the week of October 28 - November 1, 2024. We invite you to join us in the library to peruse and purchase books during Teacher Conferences. Please see the attached flyer for more details: Scholastic Book Fair
