Dear Buena Vista Families,
Read-a-Thon!
I am SO excited to announce we have almost met all of our goals....but we can't stop reading now. Let's hit all of our targets! We are currently at 76,640 minutes read and $23,732 raised. (Only $2,768 from our fundraising goal.)
Please make sure you are logging all of your minutes. When we hit 100,000 minutes read we earn a PJ/Stuffed Animal and chocolate milk lunch day!!! We can do this! If you want to know how we are shaking out, check out this leaderboard and see how we are doing. Ms. Campbell's 4th grade class in in the lead with fundraising, Ms. Shannon's 3rd grade class has the highest participation at 48%, and Mrs. Pacific's class is leading the way in most minutes read at 9,807. Amazing!! Keep it up.
It is not too late to get started! Pledgestar, which WCEF is using for the event, has an app to make it easy to track reading minutes and funds raised! You can customize your student’s appeal, translate it into 50 languages, have your gift matched, and more. To sign up visit pledgestar.com/wcef or for more information visit wcefk12.org/readathon

Parent-Teacher Goal-Setting Conferences
This is a great time of year to meet as students have successfully transitioned back to school, routines are in place, and we are deep into teaching & learning academic content. These conferences may be different than you remember growing up, as we do not focus on report cards. Goals will not cover every area of student learning and development, but will help to focus on targeted areas. Conversations include what we can collectively do to help support students in making progress and meeting their goals.
We appreciate you making time in your busy schedules to connect with us! Please review class emails carefully if your teacher has sent a survey or other advice for getting ready for a successful conference. If you would like the support of language translation for your conference, please contact your child's teacher.
*Note that during conference week, the Wednesday schedule is normal, but M/T/Th/F are shortened days.
DELAC Meeting
You’re invited to join us for our District English Language Advisory Committee on Thursday, Sept 26th from 6-7 on zoom. Kelly Lasky, our ELD Coordinator will review the ELD program, ELPAC assessments provided to our Multilingual students and strategies for supporting your student at home.

PTA Membership Drive
As you may know, the PTA plays a vital role in enriching our school community. They organize a variety of events and activities throughout the year, aiming to provide enriching experiences for our students while fostering a strong sense of community. Unfortunately, current PTA membership is lower than in years past. Without a significant increase in membership, we will be forced to charge for, or cancel many events that we currently offer for free. This is a decision we would like to avoid, as we believe that everyone should have equal access to these valuable opportunities.
A strong membership base is essential for the PTA to continue operating as a non-profit organization. We pride ourselves on holding one main (Fun Run) fundraiser a year, but this alone is not enough to sustain our efforts.
Please consider becoming a PTA member to help maintain our current programs and explore new initiatives. Click here to join for as little as $15. Together, we can create a more vibrant and engaged school community for all.

5th Annual Read-a-thon ends on Friday!
Our 5th annual Read-a-thon is going strong with SO many readers and minutes logged! There’s still a couple of days left to join in the fun and raise money to help WCEF ensure all students have access to a comprehensive education, open libraries, and a vast array of electives. Our goal is to raise $185,000 by having every student raise $85! We can do this! To sign up, please visit pledgestar.com/wcef.
DID YOU KNOW? Only 9% of schools in California benefit from a credentialed librarian and 50% of library funding comes from the community. It's up to us to support our libraries!
Exciting prizes include soccer ball fidget spinners, stickers, gift cards and other fun incentives.
Support WCEF with Corporate Matching!
Does your employer offer corporate matching? You can DOUBLE YOUR GIFT with corporate matching! Last year corporate matching brought in almost $200,000 for our schools. It all adds up! Visit wcefk12.org/match to see if your company will double or triple your WCEF donation.

Is your child home from school?
Parents, it is very important that you remember to leave a message on the attendance line at (925) 944-6822 ext. 3801 or email jlouie@walnutcreeksd.org if your student will not be coming to school. Emails to teachers or the Principal do not always get communicated to the office. Thank you!
