News from Westfield Elementary: December 20, 2024
Westfield Principal Kristen Ulery
Westfield families:
Thank you for all of your support and for your generosity in thanking our staff this week! The kids had a great time with spirit week and the holiday parties. We appreciate the PTC room parents and volunteers who made the classroom parties this afternoon a reality.
Today begins winter break, and Westfield will be closed until January 6, 2025. Staff will be in attendance on January 6th, but students don't return until January 7th.
Have a wonderful winter break, and we will see you in the new year!
Kristen Ulery
Westfield Principal
Schools will be closed December 23-January 6 for winter break
The last day of school before winter break will be Friday, December 20. All schools will be closed December 23 through January 3 for winter break, and then closed for a School Improvement Day on Monday, January 6. All students will return on a regular schedule on Tuesday, January 7.
The district office will be closed on December 24, 25, and 31, as well as January 1.
Empathy awards
This month's Character Strong focus trait was empathy. Throughout the month students engaged in lessons and activities focused on being able to understand and share the feelings of others. This morning we recognized a group of students who were identified by their teachers for being leaders in showing empathy to others. These students were called to the office during the morning announcements to get a certificate, choose a prize, and take a photo. We are very proud of our empathetic kids!
Clean out your change jars! ‘Penny Wars’ will raise funds for a good cause
All CCSD 89 students will be able to compete against classmates in the upcoming ‘Penny Wars’ fundraiser. From Wednesday, January 8, through Friday, January 18, there will be jars in each school to collect donations for Little City, an organization that supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The district’s two Student Board Members, Emma Waldbusser and Brooke Wills, have organized the fundraising competition.
