We would like to provide you with an important district update that we were just made aware of yesterday afternoon. As you are likely aware, a nationwide bus driver shortage has been impacting our District’s ability to provide transportation services for all eligible CPS students. CPS is working on several solutions to address this challenge, including adjusting bell times at some schools for the 2024–25 school year.
After completing an in-depth analysis of schedule data, and considering feedback from network chiefs, school leaders, and teachers, the District has determined that Bateman is among those schools that will have new bell times for the 2024–25 school year.
Here are the details:
New Start Time: 8:00 AM
New Dismissal Time: 3:00 PM
Effective Date: Monday, August 26, 2024
These bell time adjustments will allow CPS to save up to 80 vehicles, thereby increasing the number of students who can receive transportation services next school year.
While necessary for the good of our students, we understand that these new start and end times will impact our school community. We assure you that we will work together to make the necessary adjustments and continue providing our students with a wonderful daily experience.
It is highly important that students begin their day on time on a daily basis, therefore the following adjustments have been made:
Important Impacts to our Community:
Before Care times will remain the same and will begin at 7:15am.
Preschool After Care will be from 3:00pm - 5:15pm (end time remains the same).
NBGC After Care will continue to end at 6pm.
All other After School Programs will be adjusted. More information forthcoming.
