Family Weekly Update
2/3/25
Collins Community
It has been a wonderful week of learning and growth here at school. Our students have been working diligently, and I've been so impressed with their enthusiasm and progress. We've accomplished so much together, and I'm incredibly proud of all their hard work.
As we head into the second half of the school year, I'm excited to continue this momentum and embark on a new week filled with opportunities for learning and achievement. We have many goals we are working towards, and I am confident that by working together, we will see great success. I look forward to partnering with you in supporting your children's continued growth and development.

Sick Day Guidelines
With cold and flu season in full swing we have had an increase in nursing visits. We are also seeing an increase in students being sent to school and told to see the nurse if they don't feel well when they get to school. We are asking families to please keep students home if they don't feel well. We are working hard to minimize the exposure to communicable illnesses. We also would like families to know students are not able to walk home if they are sick from our office. An adult must dismiss them in person.
Please review our sick day guidelines
Students should not attend school if:
- Temperature of 100 F or higher: may return after having a normal temperature for 24 hours without taking fever-reducing medication.
- Vomiting; may return 12 hours after symptoms resolve & can tolerate a new diet. During this uptick in illnesses we do suggest 24 hours.
- Diarrhea; may return 12 hours after symptoms resolve & can tolerate a new diet. During this uptick in illnesses we do suggest 24 hours.
- Any undiagnosed rashes
- If antibiotics are prescribed; may return after taking antibiotics for minimum of 24 hrs (unless it is for ear infections as these are not transmissible)
If you have to keep your child home or want advice on whether you can send your child to school please call us directly 978-740-1194. We will adjust the student's attendance as needed.

Please Observe Bus Stop Signs
Drivers who attempt to quickly get around the bus can and have caused serious bodily injury, and even death. Young children between the ages of 4 and 7 are at the greatest risk, according to the Massachusetts Department of Health and Human Services.
While you may not be able to see a child running across the street, the stopped bus with flashing lights is an indicator that children are present and have not safely made it on or off of the vehicle. Bus drivers will turn off the lights when they see that the children have reached safety, and that’s why it is critical that drivers on the road follow these cues. Drivers who fail to do so are breaking the law.
Do your part to keep Massachusetts school children safe by obeying the school bus zone law.
