Notes From The Music Room
Hello Everyone, and Welcome Spring!
On April 4th and 5th , Woburn K-5 Music Teachers brought their selected students to the
Northeast District Treble Chorus Festival. We are happy to announce that the Festival was
held at Woburn High School! Students from several communities in Massachusetts came
together on Friday and Saturday for practice, and performance at the high school auditorium.
Our Spring Show: “Willy Wonka And All Things Candy” will be held on Wednesday, June
11th, at 9 AM for families with last names beginning with (A-J ), and at 10:15 AM for
families with names beginning with (K-Z).
This week, I spoke to the children about Ideas for costumes, and emphasized the
importance of creating a costume WITH parents! (no running off to play video games).
The options can be as easy or as involved as you want!
- Dressing as a character from the original 1971 WIlly Wonka movie
- Using poster board or cardboard, draw or paint any type of candy or dessert in a sandwich board style to wear.
- Headbands with a dessert or candy glued to it
- A graphic tee with candy or candy brand on it.
- An old candy Halloween outfit
I know between the students and parents here at Linscott-Rumford, the creativity will be
over the top, and I can’t wait to see the results!
Have a great weekend, and as always, more information to come!
Thanks so much!
Mrs. Michele Walker DeMartinis

WPS Returning Student Form
Online Returning student enrollment for the upcoming school year is now available! This process replaces the paper forms sent home at the beginning of each school year. You will use the PowerSchool Parent Portal to access the Registration.
How do I get started?
Log on to ParentPortal From the Parent Portal:
- Select the student you wish to register along the top
- Select the Returning Student Registration at the bottom of the list
- Agree to the terms and conditions
- Select Begin Forms
I can’t remember my login for the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
If you aren’t able to retrieve your login credentials using the “Having trouble signing in?” link on the Sign In page, please contact your school directly for assistance logging in to the Parent Portal.
Do I have to answer all the questions?
No, but some questions are marked "Required" and must be answered before you can submit your form.
What if I make a mistake?
If you would like to make a change prior to submitting the form, you can either navigate back to the page using the “Previous” and “Next” buttons or if you are on the Review page select the underlined field. If you have already submitted the form you will need to contact your student’s school so they can make the changes for you.
I’ve completed the form, now what?
Once you have finished entering your information select “Submit.” This will send all of the information you’ve entered to the school. If you cannot select this button you will need to make sure that you have answered all required questions.
What if I have more than one student in the district? Do I need to do this for each child?
Yes you will need to provide information that is specific to each child. We recommend that you complete and submit one form and then start another. This will allow you to “snap” (or share) selected family information, which saves you time.
You have reached the end of this week's updated information.
General School Information
Notifying School of Student Absences
In order to maintain accurate attendance records each day, families are required to notify the school of a child's absence each day. In addition to calling the school and leaving a voicemail on the absentee line (781.937.8239), families may also send an email to the address below.
If we do not receive notification, we will attempt to contact the family to verify the absence. If we are unable to connect with the family, the attendance liaison will attempt to visit the family to verify the absence. Thank you for your communication around student absences.
School Safety Drills
Each year, students and staff participate in school safety drills. This year, in addition to the regular fire drills, we will be practicing the Standard Response Protocols, or SRP. These protocols include the Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, and Shelter procedures. We will be practicing these protocols under the supervision of our Student Resource Officer, Joe Wells on Thursday, March 6th.
Woburn Public Schools staff have been trained in the Standard Response Protocol and more information can be found here as well as by visiting the I love u guys Foundation. If you have any questions about the drills or protocols, please contact the school office.
Become a Linscott-Rumford Room Parent Volunteer
We still have some classrooms in need of room parents. If you can help, please take a look at the information below.
The PTO is looking for two parent volunteers for each classroom this year. Responsibilities include coordinating events for the classrooms and ensuring communication between the PTO and teachers. Click below for more information.

Youth Engaged in Service (Y.E.S.) Program
Students who complete 50 hours of community service per each school tier (K-5, 6-8 and 9-12) are eligible to receive the Youth Engaged in Service (Y.E.S.) award at the end of grade five, grade eight and grade 12.
Community Service hours can be earned by volunteering (not being paid) to help others. Routine school chores (clapping erasers, cleaning cafeteria tables) and household chores (shoveling snow or washing dishes at the student's own house) do not count as community service hours.
Please contact Jean MacLeod in the Assistant Superintendent's office 781-937-8233 Ext 11208 with any questions.
