Message from the Principal
Dear Kennedy High School Community,
This week has been a week of celebration and achievement!
Last Tuesday, November 5th, we marked a significant milestone with the grand reopening of our Family and Community Engagement Center. This center is more than just a physical space; it's a testament to our commitment to fostering strong relationships between our school, families, and the broader community. We were honored to have esteemed guests join us for the ribbon-cutting ceremony, including representatives from the La Palma Foundation, Kiwanis Club, our dedicated PTSA, district officials, and AUHSD Board Members. I am particularly proud of our Culinary Arts students, under the expert guidance of Chef Sarah Zepeda, who catered the event. Their culinary skills showcased the talent and dedication of our students.
This week, our athletic teams continued to shine. Our Girls' Tennis team battled hard against San Gabriel High School, and our Fighting Irish Football team traveled to Lancaster to take on Quartz Hill High School.
Additionally, we are thrilled to announce that Kennedy High School has been recognized on the 2024 AP School Honor Roll. This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students and staff. The College Board's AP Program recognizes schools that deliver strong Advanced Placement (AP) program results while broadening access to AP courses. By earning this recognition, Kennedy High School has demonstrated a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.
As we move into next week, we have several important events on the horizon.
Monday, November 11th is Veterans Day and on this National Holiday I want to express my gratitude for the American veterans who have served in the U.S. armed forces. This day is set aside to express gratitude for their sacrifices and contributions to our nation's security and freedom. We are particularly proud of two of our own Fighting Irish, Lieutenant Colonel McCall, Mr. Sibley, and Ms. Marshall, who have served our country.
On Tuesday, November 12th, Kennedy High School students will be participating in the Orange County Artificial Intelligence Prompt-a-Thon at Santiago Canyon College. This exciting event will challenge students to craft and refine prompts to effectively interact with and guide large language models.
This weekend is your last chance to experience the thrilling mystery of "Much Ado About Murder," the Kennedy Blarney Stone's interactive dinner theater production. If you haven't secured your tickets yet, there's still time to enjoy this captivating show from Thursday to Saturday.
I am incredibly grateful for the support and dedication of our entire Kennedy High School community. Together, we are fostering a vibrant school culture that celebrates academic excellence, creativity, and diversity. By working together, we are building a brighter future for our students.

Tobacco Use and Prevention Education
This school year, vaping and tobacco use among youth and young adults are still a serious concern. Every day, new discreet vaping products enter the market. They are camouflaged as common household objects, video games, toys, and school supplies and are meant to sneak past adults.
Behind the enticing flavors and flashy colors of e-cigarettes are harmful chemicals and nicotine addiction.
Learn the essentials to help kids avoid or quit vaping and other nicotine use.
Our virtual presentation Dangers of Vaping: What Parents Need to Know in 2024 will be held on Tuesday, November 19 at 3:00PM Pacific Time. At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:
- Understand and recognize tobacco industry tactics targeting youth
- Explain the dangers of nicotine e-cigarettes/vapes, non-nicotine vapes, and other new tobacco products
- Know the steps to protect youth and how to advise others to get involved
- Know how to take action in your own communities
