Message from the Principal
Dear Ranger Families,
I truly hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving break! I can't wait to spend time with my family in Corpus Christi and relax a little. I have been reflecting over this past semester and I was thinking about how much I and our school have to be thankful for. We are thankful for your child(ren) and the joy they bring to us every day. There is always something to be thankful for and I am truly thankful for all of our Ranger students and staff family.
Thank you so much for the dessert donations for our staff!!!! They will enjoy a sweet treat from all of you over their Thanksgiving break! Thank you for pouring your heart into showing appreciation to our staff by donating sweet treats to them!
Please make sure to send your child to school every day! Attendance matters every single day. Thank you for your support! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving week!
Next week's events (after Thanksgiving Break) are:
- Wednesday, Dec. 4- MAP Reading testing for Kinder-5th grade
- Thursday, Dec. 5- MAP Science testing for 3rd-5th grade
- Saturday, Dec. 7- The Wetmore Choir performs at North Central Baptist Hospital's WinterFest at 1:00 pm
With a Grateful heart,
Mrs. Nunez, Principal
RSVP to attend your child's Winter Party!
Parents/Guardians,
Please fill out the form below if you would like to come to campus to attend your child's Winter Party in their classroom on Friday, December 20th. This will help to make things go more efficiently the morning of Friday, December 20th, as there will be a long line of people trying to get checked in. Please make sure to bring a valid current ID with you.
Please note that non school aged children can be in attendance. However, we are planning food and crafts for our Wetmore Rangers only (due to cost and accuracy of numbers), so please plan accordingly (you may bring a snack or craft to occupy your child).
The survey will close at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, December 17th, so we are able to print all Parent Visitor badges on Wednesday, Dec. 18th and Thursday, Dec. 19th. Thank you!

Counselor's Corner
Howdy Ranger Families!
I finished my sixth round of in class guidance about gratitude this past week. Each class was able to make a gratitude wreath to display in their classroom and they were PRECIOUS! My next lesson will be combined with Mrs. Jenn in the library. We are going to read The Wish Tree by Kyo Maclear and do a special activity with each class.
I am wishing you all a restful, safe Thanksgiving break. I can’t wait to see you all back here in December!
As always, if you have any questions in regards to counseling resources please call the front office, (210) 407- 8800, and leave a message for me.
Your Wetmore Counselor,
Mrs. Redding
Tips from our Targeted Support Teacher
Greetings!
As we enter our Thanksgiving holiday break, I would like to say thank you for all that you do to support our school, staff, and students, especially your own child/children. We are so grateful for our Ranger families. Whether you are traveling or staying close to home next week, I hope that you stay safe and enjoy this time with your loved ones. If you need something for your kiddos to do over the break, there is plenty to keep them busy on www.neisd.net Launchpad. When we return, we will be kicking off our MAP Growth Assessments. We can’t wait to see all of the learning students have acquired since the beginning of the year.
Keep it up, Rangers!! Take care and be safe!
Thank you,
Mrs. Jennifer Korzekwa, Targeted Support Teacher (TST)
Library Buzz
We had a great week of library lessons to round out our study of Dinovember!
Also, we are excited because for the past two weeks our 3rd Graders have been participating in the citywide Read to the Final Four. Every week we log their reading minutes - and since the first week our school has been in the Top 50 elementary schools in the city. Way to go 3rd Grade - keep it up!
I hope you have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving Holidays filled with friends, family, good times and laughter!
Mrs. Shannon Jenn, Librarian

Wetmore Volunteer Guidelines
We would love your help! Please consider volunteering on campus, we can always use the help! Here are our Volunteer Guidelines:
We are glad to see the faces of our friends and families helping out on campus. We have updated the following volunteer guidelines for the 2024-2025 school year. These guidelines are in place for your safety, the safety of our students, and staff. Please adhere to these guidelines in order to continue volunteering on campus.
Remember to sign in and out at the window in the main office when arriving and leaving campus.
Volunteers must remain in the specific area in which they are volunteering, unless traveling to or from the front office to sign in or out.
This means volunteers, parents, and guardians should not visit teachers' classrooms to chat. You may go quickly to the classroom only if you need to receive instructions or pick up work to complete, but majority of teachers will leave work for you to help with in the front office. This policy ensures that our teachers can focus on their teaching and maintain a safe environment for all students (to properly provide adequate supervision of their students).
Volunteers are not allowed to go to your child’s classroom to talk to your student or teacher.
Due to confidentiality concerns, volunteers are not permitted to walk through the office from the copy room to the front office area.
Volunteers are not allowed to bring young children. Young children are not permitted on campus so volunteers are able to focus on the task at hand or to focus on our Wetmore Rangers. Young children are also not allowed in the classroom because of their short attention span and potentially interrupting instruction. Young children of parent volunteers are permitted in PTA board meetings, but must be supervised by the volunteer/parent.
Thank you for your understanding of our safety guidelines.
Your Proud Principal,
Mrs. Ida Nunez
