Environmental Education Poster Contest
3rd Grade
Pike Carver & Ellie Dunevant
5th Grade
Avery Whitfield & Margaret Bailey
Each year the Person County Soil and Water Conservation District sponsors Conservation Education contests for eligible Person County students. The contests help promote an attitude of stewardship for our natural resources with a focus on a different theme each year. This year's theme for the contests was "The Living Soil." Students discussed the importance of soil, soil particles, soil erosion, and what it means to have "healthy soil."
Students in third, fourth, and fifth grades were eligible to participate in the poster contest. Students in these grades were given the opportunity to create their posters at school and BHCS submitted over 100 posters! We are so proud of all our students' work and the time they put into their posters.
We are also excited to announce that Ellie Dunevant from Mrs. Whitt's class placed 2nd and Pike Carver from Mrs. Melton's class placed 3rd for third grade in Person county. In fifth grade, Margaret Bailey from Mrs. TenEyeck's class placed 2nd and Avery Whitfield from Mrs. Snead's class place 3rd in Person county. These students will be recognized on May 22 at an awards celebration hosted by the Person Soil and Water Conservation District.
Congratulations to all our participants and those students receiving these awards, we are so proud of you all! Go Wildcats!!!
4th Grade Pirate Day
Ahoy, Me Hearties! Pirate Day is fast approaching and the students are so excited!
Pirate Day will be Wednesday, May 22. Students will dress like pirates and participate in other fun activities to celebrate the conclusion of their CKLA unit on the novel "Treasure Island." Don't be a landlubber, raise your Jolly Roger and get ready for PIRATE DAY!
BBQ Follow Up
We would like to thank everyone who had a hand in making our 40th Annual BBQ and Auction a success! This fundraising event would not be possible without all the volunteers, donors, and local supporters. We would also like to give a shout out to our top sellers for raffle and dinner tickets:
Congratulations to Gus Bray for being the top dinner ticket seller and Jacob and Dalton Tippett for being our top raffle ticket sellers! Way to go Wildcats!
