PBIS - Be a Disney STAR
PBIS is a school-wide system that includes proactive strategies for teaching, modeling, and reinforcing appropriate behavior. Our school-wide behavior expectations are for students to Be a Disney STAR:
S – Show Kindness
T – Take Responsibility
A – Always be Safe
R – Respect Others
Classroom teachers have been teaching and modeling these behaviors in all areas of the building these last few weeks. This past Tuesday, we had grade-level meetings to review our Disney STAR expectations to all students. Positive behavior will be recognized and rewarded throughout the year:
- Individual STAR's: When students are caught being a STAR they will receive a STAR ticket that will be place in their classroom star jug. Every Friday two STAR tickets are drawn for students to visit our STAR cart!
- Classroom SHINING STAR's: when an entire class is caught demonstrating STAR behavior they will earn a Shining Star to be placed on their classroom chart. Once the STAR chart is filled the class will earn a fun reward!
- School-Wide Disney STAR's: Each week all start tickets earned will be placed into the STAR Tower. Working together as a school, once we fill the tower to our goal line, our entire school will earn a fun reward. Our first goal is to fill the STAR Tower half way to earn an indoor snowball fight and hot coco!
We have had a great first few weeks learning what it means to be a Disney STAR! We continue to encourage our students to make good behavior choices and come to school each day ready to be a Disney Star. We appreciate your encouragement at home to do the same.
Third Grade Learns What it Means to Be A Disney STAR
Mrs. Hamilton’s class has been spending a lot of time these first few weeks practicing their Disney STAR behavior and creating a hallway mural to reflect and share examples of being kind, responsible, safe, and respectful.
Canvas Parent Account
All Fraser classroom teachers provide instruction, resources, activities, and assessments to students utilizing the Canvas Learning Management System. As a result, students have continuous access to the course materials and information regarding their achievement.
Parents/Guardians can also have continuous access to their student’s course materials and grades in Canvas by creating a parent/observer account. In addition, parents of multiple students can easily switch between their students to view grades and assignments within the same parent account. All sign up information and resources are provided on the Fraser website.
Important reminders when using Canvas:
- Canvas works best in Chrome
- Please do not install the Canvas app (for parents or students). We are not supporting it as our staff and students are utilizing the web-based version of Canvas and it looks and works differently.
- If you signed up and paired with your students last year, you still have access to those students and their new courses this year.
- If you need to add more students to your account this year, please follow the directions provided below.
- If you have forgotten your password, you can use the Forgot Password? link on the parent sign in page. Then, enter the email address you used to set up the account to receive a password reset email.
- If you have forgotten the email you used, please reach out to Kim Keith, Kimberly.keith@fraserk12.org, for additional assistance.
Building Good Attendance Habits
Health Guidance Going to School
We want to partner with our families to make our school a safe, healthy and welcoming environment for your students.
Make sure to send your child to school if they are generally healthy and able to participate in their usual day-to-day activities. Avoid keeping children at home unless they are too sick to participate.
We have put together this helpful chart of when to keep your child home and when they can return to school for common illnesses
Birthday Treat Policy
Birthdays are special celebrations at any age; however, with food allergies and restrictions and the critical demand for learning time—NO FOOD items will be allowed for birthday celebrations. Please do not send them. We will celebrate students’ birthdays in other ways.
