The Trojan Times
September 1, 2024
Mission Statement
St. Maria Goretti is a living testament to our Lord's work in His youngest disciples, exemplified by academic excellence, spiritual formation, and compassionate service to others.
St. Maria Goretti Catholic School aims to form what is True, Good, and Beautiful in the souls of our young disciples of Christ.
Principal's Message
Dear St. Maria Goretti Catholic School Families,
Remember there is no School on Monday for Labor Day! We will welcome students back to campus on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
All clubs on campus will begin meeting this week. Please see the end of this edition of the Trojan Times for meeting days and times.
We hope to have outdoor pickup on September 3, 2024. You should have received an email with directions and a map on this new procedure. I have also included the procedure in the family handbook. If the temperature or heat index is 95 or above we will have to have indoor pickup. We will have to send out a text alert if we cancel carline. All parents MUST have their orange cards visible in the car windshield. If you do not have the orange cards you will be asked to go to the front office to show your id and wait for your children there. Please practice patience with all the drivers and teachers in the parking lot. Remember the goal is to get all the children safely home.
Finally the school does not provide forks, knives, spoons, napkins, or condiments during lunch. We also can not warm up the students lunches. The children will eat lunches as you pack them. Thank you for your partnership with this.
St. Maria Goretti, Pray for Us!
Blessings,
Amy Utendorf, M.Ed.
Principal
Manner of the Week!
School Lunches for the Month of September
Lunch will need to be ordered a day in advance by 12:00pm, however, lunches may be preordered the whole month in advance if desired. (www.laislatx.com). You have the option of ordering other lunches besides the one offered for the day; however if you do so, you need to specify the date you want that lunch delivered. Please do so under special instructions. Under Special instructions, you may do special requests, ex: no tomato. In the event your child forgets his/her lunch and you did not pre-ordered lunch, you will have the choice to allow your student to purchase lunch for that day. You will need to fill out an authorization form to have that option. If you have questions about the lunch program or your lunch account, please contact me at
laislarestaurantpantego@gmail.com. Please allow 1-2 business days for a response.
Respectfully,
Martin Zavala

Recess Fun
Students are getting creative as they patiently wait for the playground to be completed. Kindergarten and first grade had a blast blowing bubbles. Second and third grade drew chalk pictures and played hopscotch.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made
PreK students worked with their parents to create a paper doll in their image. The Scriptures say that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14). God created billions of individuals yet gave each one his or her own look, strengths, personality and potential.

TERRIFIC TROJANS
CONGRATULATIONS to 8th grader, Catie S., who made the Diocesan and the SMG Volleyball teams! Go Trojans! Mr. Tran also earned a sticker this week for loaning Mrs. Saladino a laptop charger when hers broke.
SMG students receive a Terrific Trojan sticker when they are "caught" being safe, responsible and respectful. After wearing the sticker during the day, the Terrific Trojan places it on the hallway bulletin board. We love seeing how full the bulletin board becomes by the end of the school year.
