Principal's Message
Dear ORCA Families,
We hope this message finds you well! As we approach the holidays, we want to take a moment to highlight the continued importance of regular school attendance. Being present and engaged at school is key to your child's academic success, helping them stay on track with their learning, build meaningful relationships with peers, and establish positive habits that will benefit them in the future.
This week is particularly special as we celebrate Spirit Week! We’re thrilled to see our students participating in the fun daily themes and showcasing their school spirit. Be sure to ask your child about the theme each day and encourage their involvement—it’s a great way to bring joy and connection to their school experience.
We also hope to see many of you at our Make It Take It Night event on Thursday evening! This is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community and share in the festive spirit of the season.
As always, if your child must be absent, please notify the office promptly. Whenever possible, we encourage scheduling appointments or family obligations outside of school hours to help minimize missed learning time.
Thank you for your partnership in making this a successful and joyous week for everyone. We’re grateful for your support in fostering a positive and vibrant school community.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Herrera
Principal

Please take part of the Parent Climate Survey
Dear Lodi Unified School District Parents and Guardians,
Each year, the district desires to obtain community input to measure parent and family engagement, including how well the district builds relationships between school staff and families, builds partnerships for student outcomes, and seeks input for decision-making. Each year the district collects this information in part using the Parent Climate Survey. This survey also helps determine the allocation of services included in the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), and is used to evaluate the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) for each Title I school site. It is a valuable source of information, and we hope that you take the time to answer thoughtfully. The survey should take about 15 minutes to complete. The survey will be available from December 9th to December 20th. This link will take you to the survey. Your responses will remain anonymous.
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback!
MOY Assessment Window Opens
Monday, December 9th through Friday, December 20th
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We hope this message finds you well. We would like to remind you that this is the final week for the Middle of Year (MOY) assessments, which will conclude on December 20, 2024. These assessments are crucial as they help us measure your child's progress and identify areas where they may need additional support.
To ensure your child performs to the best of their ability, we kindly ask for your support with the following:
- A Restful Night's Sleep: A good night's sleep is essential for focus and performance. Please ensure your child gets adequate rest each night before their assessment.
- Attendance: It’s important that your child is present at school during this final week of testing. If possible, please avoid scheduling appointments or absences during this time.
- Encouragement: Motivate your child to approach the assessments with a positive mindset and to give their best effort. We are proud of their hard work, and this is a valuable opportunity to showcase their growth.
Thank you for your continued support in helping your child succeed. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us.

Dismissal in Front of our School
Dear Parents,
To ensure a smooth and safe drop-off and pick-up experience for all, we kindly ask you to follow these protocols:
- Parking: If you are waiting to pick up your child, please park your car. This helps maintain the flow of traffic and avoids congestion.
- No Blocking: Please do not block the handicap parking spaces or stand on the driveway, as these areas need to remain accessible at all times.
- Pick-Up Location: Wait for your child on the sidewalk by the main gate.
Thank you for your cooperation and helping us create a safe and efficient environment for everyone.
Handicap Parking Zone
Dear Parents,
We kindly remind everyone to avoid blocking the handicap parking zone in front of the school. These spaces are reserved for individuals with proper permits and ensure accessibility for those who need it most.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our parking areas accessible and safe for everyone.
Dismissal on Waudman Avenue
As we continue into the second quarter, we want to emphasize the importance of safety for all our students. We’ve observed some students crossing Waudman Avenue outside of designated crosswalks while rushing to their vehicles.
Ensuring the safety of your child remains our top priority. We kindly ask you to encourage your child to use the crosswalks and avoid jaywalking, as it significantly reduces safety risks.
Thank you for your cooperation in creating a safer school environment.
Everyday Counts Attendance
Every school day is a chance for your child to grow, learn, and shine! 🎉 Each day is packed with fun lessons and activities that help build important skills and knowledge. When they’re in class, they’re making big strides toward success and staying on track in their learning journey.
Let’s keep teaming up to make every day an amazing one for our students! Thank you for being such a fantastic part of their educational adventure—we couldn’t do it without you! 😊✨
