Pajama Day - October 11!
This Friday, October 11 is pajama day!
Students are encouraged to wear their favorite pajamas to school for a cozy and fun day.
Students should still wear tennis shoes to school with their pajamas as they will still be participating in recess and Phy. Ed. Pajamas should be appropriate for a school environment and not distracting.
We can't wait to see everyone's creative sleepwear!
No School Oct. 17 & 18
There is no school for students next Thursday and Friday, October 17 and 18 for MEA.
Wacky Hair/Hat Day - October 16
The Bobcat Council has been hard at work planning an exciting lineup of Spirit Days to boost school spirit and create a fun atmosphere for our students. We’re thrilled to announce that next Wednesday, October 16 is Wacky Hair/Hat Day!
Encourage your child to get creative with their hairstyles and hats—whether it’s wild colors, unique styles, or fun accessories! However, please remember that all hair and hats should be appropriate for school and not offensive or distracting to others.
Let’s make this Spirit Day a memorable one! Thank you for your support!

School Directory Opt-In
Cedar Island is excited to offer a phone and email directory to help families stay connected. This directory can be used to coordinate playdates, birthday parties, and more. It will be shared with all families of K-5 Cedar Island students as soon as possible.
To include your information in the directory, please complete the electronic form by Thursday, October 24. If you don’t submit the form, your family’s information will not be included. We will not be adding information to the directory after October 24.
Important Notes:
- Only the information you provide will be printed in the directory, so please share only what you want to be included.
- If your child splits time between two households and you’d like to include contact info for both, each parent or guardian must submit a separate form.
Rest assured, the information collected will not be used for solicitation or commercial purposes.
Handicap Parking Spaces
This is a reminder that the handicap spaces are reserved for those with disability certification. We have several families who utilize these spaces every day and we need to make sure they are available for them. Thank you for your cooperation.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Conferences are underway! We have enjoyed meeting with families already and look forward to the remaining conferences.
Conference Dates and Times
Thursday, October 10th 4:30pm - 8:30pm
Monday, October 14th 4:30pm - 8:30pm
Fall Conferences are “Listening Conferences” For Teachers, Grades 2-5
We will have been in school for about 5 weeks when conferences begin. Therefore, we don’t use fall conferences as a “reporting conference”. Teachers in grades 2-5 will spend minimal or no time sharing about student academic performance as it’s too early in the school year to give an accurate picture of how our scholars are performing. Rather, we use fall conferences for 2 purposes:
- Teacher, parent and children can work together to determine a good independent reading goal for at home.
- Teachers will ask parents questions to help build a relationship and better understand our families hopes and desires for their child(ren) for this school year. This, hopefully, will help us better understand the needs/desires of our families for their child(ren)’s education. Teachers will send these questions to parents ahead of time so that they can prepare for them. Please watch for this information from your child’s teacher.
