Long Elementary School
A Note From Dr. Phillips and Dr. Koppel
I can hardly believe we’re just one full week away from Thanksgiving break! This season always reminds us how grateful we are for our wonderful school community.
A special thank you goes out to our 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade families for attending the Fall Concerts. What an amazing set of performances! Your support and enthusiasm mean the world to our students and staff.
As we move closer to the holidays, please consider participating in the Long family adopt-a-family program. Supporting families within our school helps spread kindness and makes a meaningful difference for everyone involved.

This sign-up is for the Long Elementary 2024 Adopt-A-Family. This year we are asking for gift cards to give our families a holiday meal, a family experience together, and gifts for all family members. With these cards they can shop for that perfect gift for each other and also enjoy some fun family time over break. Please have gift cards turned in to school no later than Dec. 6th. We are so appreciative of the generosity of the Long family! If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Beuckman at emilybeuckman@lindberghschools.ws or Mrs. Scott at emilyscott@lindberghschools.ws
CAPP Presentation
From January 13-17, we will be having our annual CAPP (Child Abuse Prevention Program) lessons. Presenters will be here from the Jewish Family Services to teach safe and non-threatening lessons to students about body safety, the warning signs of child abuse and safe internet skills, using developmentally-appropriate and empowering activities. For more information on specific objectives, you can click HERE. There will also be a virtual Parent Education evening on December 9th at 6:30. A link will be sent out closer to the date. You will be given a chance to preview the videos that will be shown and ask the presenter questions. If you wish for your child NOT to participate, there will be an “Opt Out Form” sent home prior to the presentation. If you have any further questions, please contact school counselors, Mrs. Scott or Mrs. Beuckman.

Winter Weather Reminder for Families
As colder weather approaches, now is a good time to remind families and staff how we prepare for potential school closures that can result from snow, ice, or other severe weather events. The district decides to close school based on a number of factors, including student safety, bus transportation, road conditions and wind chill temperature.
When possible, the decision to close school is made by 10 p.m. the night before. However, if the decision cannot be made by 10 p.m., then a decision will be made between 5 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. the next morning. If the decision is made to cancel school, all families and staff will receive a phone call, text message and email notification.
