Week of Respect spirit week is next week. We start off with wearing blue on Monday. Check out the flyer below to learn how we will rally against bullying with spirit theme days all next week!
I wanted to bring to your attention an important safety concern we've observed during morning drop-offs. Recently, we've noticed that some families are pulling up and idling their cars in front of the main office door while signing in tardy children. Please keep in mind that this area is a designated no parking zone (fire lane), and it's crucial that we keep it clear at all times for emergency access. To ensure the safety of everyone, we kindly ask that you park in a designated parking spot when dropping off your child, even if you're just signing them in quickly. Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping our school safe.
It’s time for our annual Halloween Pumpkin Decorating Contest! Whether you choose to paint, carve, or decorate, we encourage you to get creative and work with eachother to design a pumpkin masterpiece. Pumpkins can be brought in on Monday, Oct. 28 or any day thereafter. Pumpkins will be displayed the full week in the main lobby and during the Halloween Parade. Voting will take place on October 30, with winners announced on Halloween day during morning announcements and in our Halloween week Friday newsletter. All staff members will vote on their favorite pumpkins, so be sure to bring your spookiest, funniest, or most creative designs.
Get ready—the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! This is a great opportunity to connect
with your child over the thrill of bringing home new books to dive into again and again. Studies show that kids read more when they choose books for themselves. And fostering a love of independent reading leads to a wide variety of benefits—including academic success and improved mental health. Here’s everything you need to know about the Book Fair:
- Dates: Week of October 21-25 during school hours
- Location: In the lobby outside the all purpose room/gym
- Family Event schedule: After school purchases on October 22 and 24
- There’s even more info on our school’s Book Fair homepage: https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/sandystonwalpackschool
While you’re there, set up a Book Fair eWallet, the digital payment account that allows your child to
shop for books at the Fair without cash. Then share your eWallet link so friends and extended family can add funds. When you fund an eWallet, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a giving initiative called Share the Fair. Your contributions directly support our students who need help buying books from the Fair.
