IMPORTANT RISING 7TH GRADERS:

VA State requires ALL 7th graders to receive the following vaccines after their 11th birthday:

  • Tdap booster

  • First dose of the Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine (MenACWY, brand name Menactra®, or Menveo®) two dose series

  • HPV vaccine series. After reviewing educational materials approved by the Board of Health, the parent or guardian, at the parent's or guardian's sole discretion, may elect for the child not to receive the HPV vaccine.

WELCOME MS. KEANA BUTLER, ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

I have been an educator for the past 29 years. I was named Principal of Park Ridge Elementary

School in August of 2013. I began my teaching career in Brooklyn New York at P.S. 167 in

District 17 where I taught 3rd grade for 4 years. I moved to Spotsylvania Virginia with my family

in August of 1999 where I came to Stafford County and taught 3rd and 4th grade as a Falmouth

Falcon for 5 years. I left Stafford County for a short while and was appointed the Assistant

Principal at Essex Intermediate School in Tappahannock, Virginia. In 2007 I had the opportunity

to return to Stafford County and was appointed the Assistant Principal at Rocky Run

Elementary, home of Rocky the Bulldog where I served for 6 years. Additionally, I hold a

Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Virginia State University, a Master’s Degree in Elementary

Education from Long Island University, Brooklyn Center, and a Post Graduate Degree in

Education Leadership from George Mason University. Currently, I am a Doctoral Candidate at

American College of Education where I am pursuing a doctorate in Educational Leadership. I

am the wife of a Federal Police Officer, the mom of a Graduate Student, and 2 Rat Terrier pups

named Sissy and Chip. Additionally, I am an Avid New York Giant’s Football fan. I am so

excited to join the Gayle Middle School learning community where I will continue to work hard

every day to make a difference for students.

BUILDING ROLLER COASTERS IN SCIENCE

Ms. Wilcox-Blosser's science classes, with help from Ms. Matern, built their own roller coasters which involved learning about the history, math, science and the safety concerns nesseccary to build a roller coaster.

Gayle wishes good luck to Liam Jugl-Patel who is running against 10 other candidates for National Junior Beta Vice President. The election will be held this summer at the National Convention in Savannah, Georgia. Liam is currently the Virginia State Junior Beta Vice President. Panther PRIDE!

SPORTS PHYSICAL FOR 2024-25 SCHOOL YEAR

If your student wishes to participate in a school sport, a VHSL Sports Physical form is required for each school year. It must be dated between May 1 of the current year (2024) through June 30 of the succeeding year (2025). In order for your student to try out for a 2024-25 school sport, they must have a CURRENT VHSL Sports Physical (this form is different from a school physical) on file prior to the first day of tryouts.


Football (6th graders are not eligible to tryout), Field Hockey and Volleyball will be the Fall sports.
