Student of the Week!

Quiniyah constantly displays good behavior and is a hard worker. If she isn't satisfied with a grade she received, Quiniyah will ask to do the assignment over again in order to improve her grade. She displays good character on a daily basis. She is also a star in Mr. Medford's STEM Class where he shared how much she's grown in her knowledge and ability. Way to go Quiniyah!

Important Information

  • Students are expected to have their Chromebook fully charged each day. Please remind your students to take care of their devices and to have them charged up and ready for learning.
  • You should have received information regarding how to sign up for Rooms. This is the platform for messaging with teachers. Please reach out to your child's teachers if you do not have this information.
  • Infinite Campus Parent Portal is now available. Using this portal you can view your students' grades and attendance. To register for the portal, you must bring photo identification to the school to receive your personal registration code, linking you to your student. Office hours are 7:30am-4:00pm each day.
  • Please make note of our Uniform Policy below. School t-shirts are sold daily. T-shirts are $12 and hoodies are $25.

  • Our school, specific calendar, including academic and sporting events, can be found here. Consider downloading the ECPS app to easily access this calendar any time.

Beta Club Inductions

This past Tuesday we inducted 18 new members into our National Beta Club. Our National Beta Club was first founded back in 1935, and we established the Junior Beta Club in 1971. Students were able to sign the registry book that dates back to 1977 and be a part of West Edgecombe's history of excellence. Way to go new Betas!

Samsung Solve for Tomorrow State Finalists

We are so proud to announce that we are state finalists and $2,500 winners in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow US innovative and community impact challenge! Our students who participated in the Invention Convention yesterday submitted their proposed project to Samsung, and became one of six state finalists. We will be competing against some really great schools, and are excited to represent Edgecombe County in such a positive light. With the work that Mr. Williams has done, Samsung has awarded us with $2,500 worth of tech equipment to help enhance the learning of our students. Way to go West!

Uniform Policy

A few reminders:

  • The tardy bell rings at 8:05am. Please make sure your student is in the building by 8:05am. Students not in class by 8:05am will receive tardy documentation.
  • 11:40am is the halfway point in the school day. If your student checks in after this time or checks out before this time, he/she will be counted absent for the entire day.
  • All students must be in uniform daily. See the image above for uniform expectations. Students cannot tie their shirt up in the back to expose their back and/or skin. No midriffs are allowed to be seen when sitting or standing. Students will receive discipline consequences moving forward for this.
