We will have Winter Break from December 23, 2024 - January 5, 2025. The school office will be closed during this time. Enjoy your time with your family, and we will see everyone back at school on Monday, January 6, 2025.

U.S. News & World Report recently published their list of the best public elementary schools. They placed Sauder in the top elementary schools in the state of Ohio, making Sauder a 2025 U.S. News Best Elementary School. The top-ranked schools are high-achieving ones that succeed in educating all of their students. We're so thankful for our great students, families and staff who make this recognition possible.

The Sauder Elementary PTG would like to thank all of our volunteers for all of their time and overwhelming support. We couldn't do this without you! We wish you a very happy holiday season and look forward to working with you in the New Year!

Student fee invoices for the 2024-2025 were sent home with students on November 1. Fees can be paid by check made out to Jackson Local Schools and sent in with your student, or you may click this link to pay fees online.

As a reminder, during the winter months children go outside for recess when the temperature, including windchill, is 15 degrees F or higher. We encourage students to dress appropriately for the weather (warm coats, hats, gloves and boots).

Where Does the Money We Raise for St. Baldrick’s Go?

St. Baldrick's Helps With Major Treatment Breakthrough for Childhood Cancer

Thanks to research majorly funded by St. Baldrick's, more kids will survive cancer! The St. Baldrick’s Foundation was the largest charitable supporter of a groundbreaking clinical trial that has changed the future for children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). The Children’s Oncology Group (COG) has announced transformative findings which are adding blinatumomab, a targeted immunotherapy, to standard chemotherapy dramatically improves disease-free survival rates for children with standard-risk ALL. These results are so remarkable that the COG is halting all ongoing trials to immediately integrate this safer, more effective treatment for all patients. This historic achievement is possible because of donations to St. Baldrick's. In late January, Jackson Local Schools will begin its 2025 St. Baldrick's campaign, and we hope to again enjoy great community support in our efforts to help cure childhood cancer!

The Backpack Food Program, a partnership with RiverTree Jackson, is a service we are pleased to offer to the families of Jackson Local Schools. This program aims to send home a variety of easy, ready-to-eat meals and snacks for your child over the weekend. There are no income requirements for this program. The bags will be delivered to your child’s school, and your child can bring home the bag. Please complete this quick application to apply to be part of the Backpack Food Program.

Parents can see bus route information on the Stopfinder app. This app allows parents to monitor their child(ren)'s transportation route. The routing software and student ID badge scanning on the buses work in conjunction with the Stopfinder app. If you need assistance with the app, please contact the transportation office.

The USDA is not offering free breakfast and lunch for public education students for the 24-25 school year. If you need monetary assistance with breakfast/lunch, please fill out the free and reduced lunch form. If you have questions about this form, please contact Marsha Escola, Food Service Supervisor, at 330-830-8031. All application information is confidential.

Student Pick Up Note--If you plan on picking up your child from school every day this year, please have your child take a note to his/her teacher with the student’s first and last name, the date, and teacher’s name. In the note, please indicate that your child is parent pick-up until further notice. If you want to change from parent pick-up due to an appointment, or you have decided to have your child ride the bus, you will need to send a note on the day of the change with your child’s first and last name, the date, teacher’s name, and the change that you are requesting.

The Jackson Local School District believes in partnering with parents and providing them with resources to help navigate the world of technology, games, and social media. While advances in technology have many great rewards, there is also the potential for harm. Since December, we have provided a resource and hope more parents and students, as appropriate by age, will take advantage of this.

We have partnered with SmartSocial.com for its on-demand courses for parents and students. The SmartSocial resources cover a wide range of digital and social media topics. We are providing a parent subscription package to these resources to help you learn how to navigate the negative (and positive) parts of social media with your students.
