PBMS Vision
PBMS strives to be a place where students want to come to school, parents want to send their children and staff want to come to work.
Message from the Principal
The school year is in full swing with tutoring and clubs starting. All students are invited to participate. No sign-ups are needed for either but passes are required for lunchtime activities in the 100/200 building. Check out this link for details on both: TUTORING & CLUBS.
PBMS Spelling Bee: Exciting news is buzzing around PBMS! The 2024 San Diego County Scripps Regional Spelling Bee is back and open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Please see Mrs. Velasco in Room 203 for more information. Students may also add themselves to the Bee Google Classroom to see more up to date information, including dates and deadlines. Classroom code: rov6nqz
FOPBSS Annual Giving Campaign: Every year, our parent/teacher organization provides funds to benefit our students with teacher classroom grants, sports equipment and programing such as IB, Mandarin Immersion, Art and Music. The funds are made possible through fundraisers and the Annual Giving Campaign. This year, the goal is $30K or $15/ student. It's easy to donate a one time amount or a monthly pledge. ANY amount makes a difference. Please click on the FLYER for the link to donate. So far, over $15,000 has been raised.
Safety Drills: PBMS cycles through different safety drills to prepare staff & students in the event of an emergency. In October on the 17th at 10:17am we will practice an Earthquake Drill. Prior to the drill, we will share the process and what to do in different situations. The key is for any emergency is to remain calm, quiet and listen to the adults providing directions.
Community Service
- 6th & 7th Grade: Community Service is an inspiring component of the IB program at PBMS. There are many opportunities to earn hours during the school day, through classes at PBMS. Students can earn hours at formal community service events, such as organized beach/community clean-ups, 5Kβs, food kitchen, Girl/Boy Scouts, volunteering at church events, volunteering at a non-profit. Students can also create their own service opportunities, such as an informal community clean-up, helping an elderly neighbor with yard work, beautifying a green space, or spreading kindness in the community. Our principled IB students will then log their hours in their digital community service process journal, which is in their 6th or 7th grade Google Classroom. This process is based on the honor system and students will report their total service hours on May 2nd. Click this link for more information: 6th/7th Grade Community Service Process Journal.
- 8th grade parents: Please check out this FLYER to best support your student with a successful 8th grade community project. If you have questions, please join the Community Project Parent Virtual Meeting on October 17th on Microsoft Teams

Halloween is quickly approaching, and our students can wear a costume on October 31 if they choose. To avoid any issues with costumes, it's best to follow the school dress code. Donβt be afraid to talk to Ms. Meng or Mr. Depue to ensure your costume will be appropriate. A few things to remember before wearing a costume for school:
- The face should be uncovered. We need to easily identify who our students are on campus.
- Props should stay at home.
- Items resembling weapons are NOT ALLOWED!
- Costumes that project demeaning stereotypes will not be permitted.
Please know that the administration reserves the right to identify a costume as inappropriate.
Take Care,
~Ms. Meng
